After much hemming and hawing I bought this bike because of the rave reviews and doubt that I would be able to rig up anything better myself. Received the package in good condition promptly assembly wasn't bad but better if you had your own set of wrenches (comes with all the tools you'll need though). After about 2 hours of use, it started making a noise that sounded like playing cards stuck in bicycle spokes and the outside of the resistance housing heated up and smelled funny. I emailed fitdesk customer service directly despite buying through Amazon and they returned a real human generated response within a couple hours. I sent them a cell phone video of it in action (god I love the future) and they readily determined that it was faulty unit and started requisitioning a new frame despite not even having my serial number yet. Received the replacement frame which was actually easy to set up, the rest of the guts just popped from the old to the new frame, and am typing this review while using it. It works perfectly now! Have clocked a few hours before writing this to be sure (old one worked okayish at first).

Major likes - adjustable desk-top : this is unique to this model, and much better than any home-made rig you may be tempted to glue to an old exercise bike. It adjusts forward and backward (or closer / further) from the bike seat to accommodate all arm lengths, laptop sizes/shapes, and personal preferences. The forearm rest is also adjustable which is awesome because it allows for the proper angle for your wrists to lie above your keyboard. Think about how unpleasant it is to type for any amount of time while standing at a keyboard meant for sitting height or vice versa. Much easier on the wrists this way.

Size factor - it is amazingly compact either folded up or not, and looks sleek enough so as to not look like megatron hiding in the corner of your office. I set up up caddy-corner to a bookcase on the wall my office door opens to and you cant even see it from the doorway.

Customer service: The fact that I get a response from a human without all the automated fluff/word salad that most auto-responses generate is amazing. It took me a few days to use my cell phone to record a video of the problem and email it back, but the same service rep responded each time over the course of a week and was very very helpful. They mailed out the largest and probably most expensive replacement part for free, no questions asked after seeing the video, and did not even try to make me go through Amazon's customer service department first (which is equally amazing but besides the point).

Would definitely buy again, amazing product and customer service.

I order this item from Amazon based on the high marks it got. I got the bike and was able to put it together in about 90 minutes with my girlfriend.

About 2 minutes into the first use it started making a loud clicking sound multiple times per rotation.

I turned the resistance all the way up and it got a little bit more difficult so I'm guessing the resistance mechanism was broken along with whatever was making the noise.

I packed the thing back up and returned it to Amazon - still within the 30 days.

If FitDesk can't produce a product that isn't broken out of the box, I don't have any faith that a new one would last long. This is not a product I want my $300+ dollars invested in.

It's a great idea crippled by two problems that makes it unusable for me.

First, I purchased the FitDesk to get some exercise while working on my laptop, but I have yet to stably secure a laptop to it. The incline of the table is too severe for anything to sit on its own. While the FitDesk comes with a strap, we've found it pretty much useless. Even if you manage to strap something down before it slides off, ten minutes of pedaling works it loose.

Second, at 6'2", I'm just too tall. I commend the manufacturer for including a seat extender, but my problem is with the desk, not my legs. I have to bend over too much to reach the fixed desk. It's not comfortable for my back and difficult to find a usable position for my wrists.

Other than that, it feels solid, pedals smoothly and stays quiet. If it works for you, great! Me, I'm trying to find someone to buy it off me.

Could be better. The seat is not comfortable. I bought a cushioned bike seat cover to add to it, and that helps, but if your intent is to sit while you do work on a computer or read, it is not comfortable. The desk portion does not have an tilt adjustment. Why is this a big deal? Try putting ANYTHING on it, (a remote, a pen, a book) and it slides right down with nothing to stop it. I get that putting a bottom edge would have not been feasible as it would have interfered with wrists when typing on a laptop. Desks usually are not slanted down. There is a strap to hold a laptop, which works fine for that.

Also, I am not sure why there is a need for a silly little "squish ball"? Instead they should have made a water bottle holder a standard addition. And since the desk is slanted and nothing will stay on it, a place for a remote and/or a phone. After all, wasn't this designed as a work station?

I originally bought this for longer sessions to do when I would normally be doing computer work, but since the seat is so uncomfortable, I now use it for my HIIT training.
