The board is well made and wonderful to use and stash at the side of the desk when not balancing.
As a gerontologist, I would caution anyone using it (as the package also cautions), to start out using it while holding on to a STURDY support. It would be easy to fall when first learning to use the board--and at the start of each use session--so be safe! Before you let go, make sure you are feeling secure and don't get too far away from a support you can quickly grab. Also, think about your footwear. I have used it barefoot and with gym shoes and flat soled walking shoes. I wouldn't use it with sandals or shoes with a heel. Although I use it while working on my laptop, I have support to grab at hand, and do focus attention on the balance as well as the work (using it only for email and other intermittent, lighter work so concentration on the footing can be maintained). I purposely alternate just balancing on the board and also move and rotate the board for muscle strength. It uses good leg, feet, hip and core muscles--helping limit the hazardous SIT-uation of prolong sitting.
