The Fitpackers arrived as scheduled and we eagerly pulled them out of the box for a quick wash in the dishwasher. I have to say, the additional container in each package was an awesome touch - great job Fitpacker!
That Sunday we did our usual meal prep counting macros and then portioned the food out into the containers right away (it honestly didn't take much additional time on top of the usual cooking). We let the food cool, then covered the containers and put away in the fridge.
As other readers have commented, these containers stack very nicely in the fridge. Additionally, the same amount of food that we would usually cook actually now fits in the fridge better and still leaves some space for other things, which is a nice bonus.
We found that portioning the food out into individual containers really made eating healthy a lot easier, if you can believe that. Having the containers in the fridge during the week made it so easy to grab and go or dish it out for a leisurely, well-proportioned meal. Clean up was a breeze - rinse out the containers and stack again in the dishwasher (top shelf).
-Stacks nicely in the kitchen cupboard or fridge
-Quick to clean - rinse them out and pop them on the top shelf of the dishwasher
-Makes it so much easier to eat healthy (and eat regularly) on the go during the week
-Seals tight - these containers, once closed completely, seal super tight. This is both a pro (sauces don't leak out) and a con (see below)
-Seals tight - as mentioned above, this is both a pro and a con. We've put meatsauce and chili in these containers and there wasn't a drop that leaked. However, it does take some maneuvering and patience to get the containers open. I never thought of myself as a bull-in-a-china-shop sort of person, but in the first week and a half I chipped two containers (see picture - just a chip on the edge came off). The chip, because of where it is placed, doesn't affect the seal of the container, but it did bring home to me that I can't just rip these tops off when I'm hungry. You do need to carefully open the containers at a corner and then run your finger under the lip around the edge to pop the lid open. Lesson learned - no big deal. The two containers with the chips still function just fine.
We have been using these containers for a few weeks now, and I have to say that we actually look forward to pulling one out and diving into the good food. It helps that we love what we cook - organic, free-range and grass-fed - but having everything correctly portioned in each container that is pleasing to the eye makes a wonderful addition. We actually feel (just slightly!) annoyed when we get invited to dine out - we end up missing our perfectly proportioned, organic, tasty meal :)
As pictured, these containers are a wonderful addition to anyone looking to take their meal-prepping to the next level and actually make clean eating an easy reality.
Ok, I gave them the benefit of the doubt. 1 in the trash, 9 left. Surely it had to be a one time issue, right? There's so many gleaming reviews on here! Day 2: I had made chicken and sweet potatoes, and had divided them into the containers for a few days worth of food. I decided to eat one for breakfast on day 2. When it came out of the fridge, I found it to be challenging to remove the top. I gave it a good tug, and (with horror) I watched as the lid snapped in half! It even tore off some of the plastic base! Are you kidding me? I mean I do workout and all, but to break tupperware just by taking off the lid?! Absurd! I'd already thrown the lid away, but pictured here is the damage done to the black base. This shouldn't happen on the first use, I hadn't even washed them yet.
I'm extremely disappointed in the quality of this product. I'm 0 for 2, and I'm not keeping the remaining 8. I don't even want to doom some poor family by giving them to the goodwill, so these are headed for the landfill (which my Oregon roots hate). Maybe I'll try to take them to a recycle center and see if they'll take them. Not a good experience!
It totally makes lunches super easy, and calorie counting simple, as you just grab and go with the numbers already calculated out.
We like to cook meals for dinner at home too. Instead of just leaving leftovers in a tupperware or box as a lump, we just portion them out after dinner, and either refrigerate or freeze them with the calorie counts labled. Super easy.
These boxes have gone through many dishwasher cycles, microwave cycles, and heating / freezing cycles. All going strong after 6 months.
Worth every cent. I posted some pictures of one of our meal preps, which is brown rice and chicken w/ gravy along with sweet potatoes and green beans.
Would highly recommend to anyone who wants some solid meal prep containers that can live up to heavy abuse.
