Dawson-Cook doesn’t sugarcoat her advice, but she is relatable. She has been fit, and she has been decidedly not so fit, and she discusses her upbringing, her emotional eating, and how she changed her bad habits for good. A fitness instructor for many years, she knows that if you don’t move or overhaul your diet, you won’t see the changes you want to see. What I liked most is that she gives small steps you can take that add up to big results, fitness-wise. For instance, if you have a habit of eating out a lot, it’s going to very hard to drop the pounds.
On a personal note, on Dawson-Cook’s advice, I dropped sugar from my diet and noticed that I immediately felt better, and also that as the weight came off, my appetite actually decreased. It was like she said, eating added sugar (which is found in lots of processed foods), actually increases your appetite.
I know this is a book I’ll refer back to for more fitness advice. I think this book will help a lot of people who want to age well and be at their best fitness level.
Anyone unsure where to start in their search of better living, feeling, and looking through optimal fitness, should consider reading this book, loaded with fundamental advice and tips.
In in this book, Susan shares her own struggles with weight control , making this read very inspirational as we all go through setbacks; how she overcame hers is where Susan's story becomes the jump start newbies are looking for.
