The story wasn't bad, and the writing was error-free (except for the name mix-up thing), but I read at least one review, which stated that the brothers all had fully-developed, different personalities. Yeah, I guess they did, but I still had to look back at the beginning of the chapter at almost every POV change, to see which brother's POV it was, because, with the exception of Mason, every brother's thoughts and internal dialogue sounded pretty much alike. There was also no real reason for even one of these brothers to fall for the girl, let alone all five of them. It was basically love at first sight for all of them. And the author made a big deal about the heroine's strict upbringing and how embarrassed she got about sex talk, but it took her like three seconds to have sex with two of the brothers, and about five additional seconds to be okay with the other three joining in. This isn't a porn star--she's a rather shy, unassuming girl, and, although the brothers like her looks, she's not devastatingly gorgeous or witty or funny or smart or intriguing or anything. I mean, she seems like a nice enough girl, after the brothers and the reader gets to know her, but that's it. She's nice. And she has some inexplicable ability to deal with difficult customers, but she couldn't handle an emotionally abusive boyfriend. Which, speaking of, there's this whole subplot about the ex- suing her for everything he spent on her during their three years together, and it was actually a little interesting, but then the author gets sidetracked with this little revenge-fantasy thing, and never wraps up how the heroine does or doesn't actually pay the ex-. I can't explain more than that, without a spoiler, but, while the court case ends, the judgement is just left dangling.
Also, in the spirit of honesty, this is the first 'Reverse Harem' book I've read, but I would have liked just a little bit of explanation as to why all five brothers were totally fine with sharing one woman. I love my siblings, but I'd never have sex in front of them, let alone share a partner that I had real feelings for. Maybe that's just a 'gimme' of these types of books, and you just have to go with the flow on that. It probably also didn't help that I'd just read Lexi Blake's Thieves series, where she expertly develops the slowly-emerging possibility of a two-man threesome with a staunchly heterosexual Texan. Also, her sex scenes are physically possible.
All in all, I guess, if you're willing to suspend your disbelief that five guys all fall in love with a girl with little to no reason, and things like spatial reality don't bug you, then you'll probably enjoy this book.
Cover: I love the cover. It is sexy and underrated at the same time. We know it’s going to be a party 🙂 with lots of alpha male and one sexy, lucky lady. Hot and classy! I have definitely bought this book because of its cover.
Plot: It was a great read. The flow was perfect, not rushed, not slow. It felt light, fun and sexy. Everything was cohesive written and relevant to the story. It kept me guessing and I’ve ended wanting more.
Characters: Yes! I love them all. I mean, there are 6 main characters and each of them has their own personality and traits. I want to be friends with Ava and talk about all the naughty things she is doing with her men. This is how relatable she is as character.
Heat: Hot! So many great scenes at the same time they are all pertinent to the story.
Freshness: It feels new, different. I know, there are a whole bunch of reverse harem out there, but the author keeps her story current and unique.
Addictiveness: This was hard to put down. In fact, I kept reading until 3 a.m because I didn’t want to go to bed without finishing it. I’m definitely going to read her other stories.
What could have been better:
I’ve enjoy this book so much, that I can’t point out anything in particular that I would change.
All I can say is that it wasn’t the best book ever, but it was really amazing.
This is an amazing book. It is fun, sexy and real at the same time. There are so many erotic books out there that just throw sex scenes and more sex scenes and people totally forget about the plot. Not Ms. Chase. Because the story is so well written it makes the time pass so fast that I’ve finished my read sad. I want more!
I know it is crazy to think, 5 guys? But Ms. Chase makes it believable. It is not an easy path for Ava, she has to give up somethings in life and you feel it could happen.
Also, I can’t forget to mention that the book has so many wonderful secondary characters that I’m dying to read their stories. Lucky me, their stories are out there already, so I don’t even have to wait.
You MAY read this because you like the author; you SHOULD read this because you want some sexy read; you MUST read this because you are looking for a tasteful ménage read!!!
