"Clever and immediately thought provoking, Five Fantastic Fables for a Fractured World by author Joseph Maas takes its readers on a journey through fractured future realities where insightful social commentary begs a myriad of questions. Bridging traditional Science fiction and Metaphysical genres, it proves more than a little disconcerting at times, as Maas brings to life a world where the perils of technology and our inner most desires are on the cusp of undermining human evolution. They might be short stories, but there's an inescapable intuitive impact to his prose which will engender much reflection among ardent fans of both genres. With engaging multi layered plots and a host of eclectic characters, continuity of style is evident throughout each. These are fables to be savoured. To be read slowly, so the underlying message within each can truly be appreciated, with Maas making the unbelievable seem tantalizingly plausible.
A genuinely engrossing collection that maintains its impact throughout, Five Fantastic Fables for a Fractured World has all the hallmarks of a classic that would transition well to other forms of media. A must for discerning readers it is highly recommended."- BookViral.com
From the Author
As a young boy, growing up to the metaphysical mysteries of The Twilight Zone and then later, The Outer Limits, such crafted tales penned by Rod Serling and other formidable SciFi writers at the time, affected my thinking significantly, and inspired me to fill up one Big Chief Indian table after another with edgy, slightly spooky mysteries of my own. is typical of the stories I wrote when I was 10 years old, and still do to this day.
I hope you enjoy the story at least half as much as I did writing it.
