Love this book. I do believe this special is where I first saw Fred. I remember him being the standout to me. I tweeted him and said if he was more full of himself his books would be longer. I would have paid more.

Having read all of Stoller's work this is by far my favorite. Although the others are very entertaining, this work tends to go a little deeper. Not just in terms of the investigative journalism that was necessary for this account, but also delving into the nature of success and what is means to us as humans. This would make a great documentary film.

Love love LOVE Fred Stoller's writing. Always makes me laugh so much. I love his perspective on hollywood and the industry - from the point of view of a nice, honest guy who might just be too nice and honest for this town. But he has persisted and has achieved a level of success that other comedians and actors would be envious of - even if Fred doesn't believe that. Keep telling these stories, Fred!

Fred Stoller's new book, FIVE MINUTES TO KILL, is a great inside look into comedy in its heyday and the coveted HBO Young Comedians Special, that so many comics yearned to be chosen for. It gives a behind-the-scenes look at the six comedians chosen in 1989, and where their careers went afterwards. Beautifully written, kind, funny and loving, it's a GREAT read!!

Another poignant, funny and eminently readable work by a man who’s developed a unique, instantly recognizable literary persona, complete with style and backstory. It left me wanting much more and I look forward to more from Fred Stoller.

Entertaining, honest and insightful.... if you want to know what the "Golden Age of Comedy " was really like in a nutshell, Fred Stoller's memoir of one TV special is a great read....I highly recommend it...

I didn't know who Fred Stoller was until I heard his voice on WTF yesterday, then I instantly knew him. He had me laughing during that short interview so I bought the book immediately. The book was interesting, a page turner. And it gets better the father into it you get.

Fascinating story of talented comediens set during 80s HBO show case. Stoller explores why tho' all the comics had talent, some attained big success and others not so much.
Well reported with many interviews. What I loved most was Stoller's intelligent understanding and take of the path each comic's life took. I did not want the book to end.

Unless you're a comedian it makes no sense. If you are comic and known Sam, Dice, Rodney etc book is a POS
