From the Back Cover
The Reverend Michael Mayor's book is a revelation. Using scripture, historical fact and Rev. Mayor's own insights, Five Sutras of Jesus unearths a Jesus that is wise, compassionate and steadfast in his commitment to treating all beings with love and respect--a Jesus that cares much more about how we live our lives than what we profess to believe. This book will give practitioners of any spiritual system a way to weave the teachings of Jesus into their day-to-day lives. - Charlotte Bell, author of Mindful Yoga, Mindful Life: A Guide for Everyday Practice and Yoga for Meditators.
Mike Mayor writes in a manner that is rare. The material offered in The Five Sutras of Jesus is drawn from a broad scope of disciplines: Old and New Testament studies, Christian theology, history, philosophy, psychoanalysis and Eastern studies; however, this material is synthesized in a highly coherent way and expressed in easy to understand language. It is not, as the title may lead some to suspect, an exploration of Eastern religions; it is a thorough and profound exploration of what it means to be a follower of Jesus grounded firmly in Christian scripture and tradition. Anyone who is ready and willing to apply concepts and wisdom from beyond the boundaries of the Church to the task of more deeply understanding and enriching the Church's teaching will enjoy this text. I recommend it to thoughtful people across the theological spectrum. Happy reading! - Charles Robinson, Philosopher, Pyschotherapist, and Episcopal Priest

Fr. Mike writes from a distinct 'I' perspective without limiting the scope of his message. In doing so he presents a Jesus who challenges many preconceptions without superimposing the authors views as singular truths. That rare quality results in a work that is clear and relatable.
Most importantly, the text empowered this reader to use the authors interpretations as springboards for personal reflection. In a world saturated with those who claim absolute certainty, Fr. Mike's humility is quite refreshing. Indeed that very humility establishes the authors authority. He offers an applicability invaluable to a reader in search of information but intent on forming his or her own conclusions.
