Now, for the down-sides:
First, this thing looks cheap and tacky. It's SOOOO shiny! The velvet is almost metallic in its gloss. The zippers and buckles are as bright as chrome. Even the straps are shiny. It looks like something a 'tween would wear to draw attention to herself in the worst way!
This bag is also dwarfish. The photo makes it look taller than it really is. At 3.5 x 7.5 x 10 inches, you can maybe get a small lunch bag OR a tablet in the main pouch of this thing, but not much else. I can barely get my cell phone and a small coin purse or wallet in the front pouch, which measures 5 x 6 inches and is about an inch deep. And there are only these two compartments! The zipper of the main compartment wraps around the entire top to about 2 inches from the bottom on each side. Therefore, if you don't get it zipped all the way shut, you're liable to have stuff leak out. There is no place to hang or stow a water bottle, which almost everyone carries these days. And where does one put her keys?
The shoulder straps are made of the same kind of nylon woven fabric that you find on car seat belts. It's just as slick as that fabric, too. Since the silver buckles are smooth and shiny, the straps don't stay adjusted the way you want them to; they slide around. They also tend to want to slide down off your shoulders, if you are wearing a windbreaker or other slick fabric.
Unlike some other bags I have used, this cannot be cleaned. You may be able to surface wipe dirt or stains from the exterior, but the care label emphatically states that you cannot wash or dry clean this bag. This makes it rather impractical.
Overall, I'd say the best market for this thing is said 'tweens or maybe elementary-aged girls. My wife says she would not be caught dead in it. It is too small to be practical, and doesn't have enough compartments to hold all of a grown woman's make-up, tissue, brush and other miscellaneous "survival" stuff. If it wasn't for the top-quality construction, I'd give it fewer stars.
It's made of a short nap, 100% polyester velvet and is fully lined with a matching, 100% polyester lining material. It features large, goldtone zippers with oversized pulls. The adjustable backpack straps and and hanging loop are made of automobile seat belt material with gold tone buckles. There are no feet or extra padding on the bottom so it's really not meant to put on the ground like a regular backpack.
It features one main compartment and one smaller zippered pocket on the front of the backpack.
It seems very well made with taping on all interior seams and even padding on the back panel. No loose threads or wonky stitching.
It's a deep amethyst color - a deep reddish purple. The product picture is very representative of the color.
This really is a mini-backpack. It's only 10" tall and 7 1/4" wide so it has the capacity of an average purse rather than a backpack But it's very cute and fun and novel. It's a little expensive, IMO, but perfect for the right outfit.
I use this for garage sales, where I don't want to leave accidently leave my purse on a table. I can pop this on my back, take sun glasses, eye glasses, small bill for cash, phone and it will fit my kindle. Plus, you can add a small water bottle, or snack.
The outer zipper pocket has about 1" depth for items. The bag won't stand nice and upright, unless you have it with items to fill the bottom.
I don't mind the velvet material. And, as I say, I use this for trips where I don't want to carry a full purse.
It is very sturdy but I'm not sure I would put it in the washing machine only because it may mess up the soft texture. The straps are adjustable and the sipper pockets work smoothly.
