The height measured at the back of the heel is 3.5 inches and it has a little bit of cushion at the ball of the foot and it is very roomy inside. Her problem is she doesn’t wear high heeled shoes very often anymore and I won’t mention the extra ten pounds. If she does wear heels, she has to bring another pair of shoes with her so she is able to drive her car. These shoes come with a nice black bag just for that situation. She keep them on the floorboard in the back seat. So she definitely wears high heels on occasion – just not for a long time. She’s already worn them once.
Her other formal shoes have five to six inch heels and the force on the ball of her foot is painful. She’s only 5 feet 3 inches tall and I’m six feet tall in bare feet, so she likes looking taller next to me. And this is the only moderate high heeled shoes that are not too high and uncomfortable for her. However, it still hurts if she wears any high heels shoes while she is on her feet for hours at a time. When we first met over five years ago, she wore high heels much more often and was more accustomed to the way they fit when she only weighed 107 pounds. Or maybe she has forgotten how they felt since marriage and moving to the United States. She doesn’t feel the need to be tall anymore
I’m also not a huge fan of the pointy toes. It grows on me, though. Before these, I didn’t have a pair of black heels, so they definitely have a place in my wardrobe!
I usually wear a size 8, I have wide feet, so I was surprised when these not only fit on my feet but were actually a little large. I have a tiny bit of space behind my heel. Part of this is because of the sharp angle of the heel my feet slide into the point, which is rather painful.
Sooo I got me some ball-of-foot pads for high heels, Dr. Scholl's, and that made a HUGE difference. They are nice and squishy and stop my feet from jamming into the pointy shoe. That gives me just enough movement toward the back of the shoe that the heels have stopped slipping off.
Also, I can actually walk up and down stairs in these heels without too much difficulty. …And drive in them. Mostly.
For whatever reason, they come with a sticker on the bottom. It is a pain to get off. I’m a little worried I’ll slip on it on the stairs and die… but it’s not like the shoes have much of a tread anyway.
In sum, heels are difficult in general; these heels are stylish and nicely made.
I felt comfortable in this 3 1/2 inch heel pump. I normally wear a size 8; the fit appears to be true to size. That being said, this shoe will feel very different on different sized feet.
Basic geometry…If a shoe has a 4 inch heel – and you have a short foot, such as size 6, your shoe’s ramp will be at about a 22 degree angle to the ground and your ankle will be in much more pain than a woman with a size 9 shoe where the same four inch heel will only give her an 18 degree ramp angle to the ground. “The FIX” Basic looks great for everything from business and evening wear to causal wear from jeans to leggings.
