The pair I received says the upper is 80% microfiber and 20% polyester. The whole reason I bought these was it said they were natural suede leather. The description also states the outsole is carbon composite. It is not. It is glass fiber composite. 45% glass fiber and 50% nylon and 5% polyethylene. This isn’t Amazon’s fault that Fizik misrepresents their products, but I will be sending them back.
Build quality of the shoe is very good. There were three issues I had with the shoe. One is a design improvement that could be made to the bottom of the shoe. The mid section of the shoe is hard plastic which will slide on your pedals if you miss clipping in. I fixed this issue by gluing some rubber strips to the middle of the shoe. Two, cur e of the shoe was too close to my ankle and dug into my ankle while pedaling. I got around this by adding a heel cushion in the shoe to raise my ankle up more. Three, It becomes apparent why higher end shoes use two boa locks. The one boa lock on this shoe provides a good snug fit, but the adjustablility would be even better with two.
Nice quality for the money. Fit was good for my narrow feet. Though the footbed is narrow, there is still a fair amount of volume, good for people for really high arches, I guess. I had to add an extra insole layer for my feet. I had to order a half size smaller (44.5) than my previous pair of Giro Privateers (45) and this still gave me a smidge more room than I had in my Privateers, which was what I was hoping for.
My main gripe is that the sole of this shoe has a slippery hard plastic bit between the forefoot lugs and the heel lugs. If you miss clipping into the cleat there's a good chance your foot will slip right off the pedal - so be careful until you got the feel right.
Also, this slippery plastic can be a bit of a hazard when walking if you happen to place your foot on a hard edge. It's like being on ice skates! Though making the shoe a little heavier it would have been better if they had continued the lugs through the mid foot.
The lugs themselves could also be a bit softer and stickier, though of course this would affect their longevity.
Overall, a decent comfortable and stiff shoe for the money.

Disclaimer: Unfortunately this shoe didn't fit (I've got weirdly wide feet) so I had to send it back, but I'll do a review on what I felt of it while I had it.
Definitely a solid shoe and great for the price. You get a nice stiff sole, quality materials so it'll hold up to a spill or two, and a Boa tightening system. In reality I'd love it to be a double Boa system rather than the little velcro strap at the bottom. I find shoes that have the double Boa do a better job of molding to your foot as it tightens from multiple angles.

I purchased a pair of Fizik X5 Terra Cycling shoes from you Since I have been using them I have noticed that the closure wire would often get caught on the tongue of the shoe when I put on the shoes. As I have never had a pair of bike shoes with Boa closures, I did not notice until recently that whoever put the Boa closure on the shoes failed to insert the closure wire through one of the tongue eyelits. I spoke to a customer service rep who said on the phone that perhaps they could do something about the obviously mislaced shoe. I emailed them with the problem as he requested but never heard back from them. I also emailed Fizik customer service who opened a claim but after nearly a month has yet to respond. Meanwhile I like the shoes but the customer service from bicyclebuys & Fizik....not so much!

Bought these to replace my old worn out s-works mountain shoe. And after having a great shoe for so long, I was worried about the transition. Decided to pull the trigger on these due to the look, combo of features, and lower price compared to anything similar.
After receiving them I am definitely impressed. The weight is only slightly more than my s-works, but the fit and feel is as good, or better, than those. The upper feels pliable but strong enough to protect my feel, and the color is really good. The layout and height of the tread make the shoe very stable on dirt/rocks/gravel, and not nearly as uncomfortable to walk in as other shoes I've tried. The toe box has some nice protection as well with a harder coating over the upper.
The fit is also perfect, I wear a size 12.5-13 US, and ordered a 46.5. These were true to size and fit like a dream. they are tight in the heel box and sides, but have just enough room in the toes to not make you foot start hurting of feel like you can only wear the thinnest of socks.
On the bike, these things feel even better. The boa easily gets the shoe nice and snug, and the faux-carbon shank feels just as sturdy as my previous shoes with full carbon. Haven't put in a ton of miles on them yet, but so far they are comfortable while pedaling.
Overall, a great shoe for the price. I've already recommended to friends.

I found these appear to run true to size. I wear a 12 1/2 US and ordered a 13. I could have gotten my original foot size with no problem. The 13 fit great tho with plenty of side room in the toe box.

I believe they are microfiber and not actual suede - I originally received a pair in suede but they were too large so I exchanged and got “suede” but actually microfiber that feels like suede. They were a bit tight but after about 10 rides (30 miles avg each) they stretched. The boa were one way only unlike my R3 Aria Road shoes.
We fitted these at a bike shop that had none to sell, so we went online to find the size my son required. Awesome shoe. he uses these on a mountain bike that he uses for downhill trails a ski hills in summer and as well on a gravel bike. he has no complaints. They have been the perfect shoe for his applications and need.
Was lucky enough to try these on at a local store. Needed a half size down which Amazon had and for $45 less than the local shop. Toe box I’d quite tight so if you have wider feet these likely won’t fit. Worn on over 25kms of XC riding so far and they are great. Toe area will work in the little needed to make these truly great. Build quality of good but looks basic. Wish they were a little more supple but they should work in. Boa is amazing and for the price it’s hard to beat with the options.
Love the style for the price I payed considering I bought it during the off-season. The BOA fastening system works great and fits well, and the sleek design can almost past for a road bike. The delivery was fast too considering also I had to return the first pair because they where one size too big. The only thing I disliked about it was the sizing system they had, I wear 8 1/2, they had 8 1/4 or 8 3/4, so the shoes are just a touch snug. Overall 👍👍 worth it!
