Editorial Reviews

Fizzy Days is a light hearted look at a couple of lads dishonest approach to motorbike ownership. A comedy caper set in the north of England.
In the early seventies the British government changed the two-wheeled motorcycle-licensing regulations. The alarming rate of motorcycle accidents particularly among the young and inexperienced riders needed to be addressed. The legislation allowing youths that had just turned sixteen to ride 'motorbikes' was instead changed to one where the novice rider could now only ride a 'moped'. Mopeds prior to the new law were tiny machines seen more on the continent than the UK. The idea was to restrict new bikers to a small 'safe' bike with pedals, thus without the power of a real motorbike they were less likely to have an accident. Fine and logical thinking as far as it went.

Stylish 'sixteener specials' began to flood into the UK. By 1972 the sports moped along with another phenomena glam rock, had truly arrived. At sixteen years old if you were a British youth of the time, your passport to freedom, independence and the open road, was your wheels. The ultimate goal for hundreds of thousands of teenagers of the day was the Yamaha FS1E the 'FIZZY', the best sports moped of them all! Why? Because every body knows if you've got the right ride you can pull the birds!
