Outdoor classic from 1968 that was developed in collaboration with members from the 1966 Greenland expedition. The original was made of tent material that was too heavy for lightweight tents. The result was an extremely durable jacket that was much appreciated by climbers. It did not take long for it to gain popularity for general use in forests and fields where it demonstrated rare durability. Today, many of the earlier versions have been passed to younger generations. Made of durable and adaptable G-1000 fabric, it has extra reinforcement over the shoulders and yoke. Two-way zipper with buttons in the front and at the sleeve cuffs. Snugly fitting hood. A classic that is aging with dignity.

One tip - if you take this to the Fjall store they wax it for FREE for you because it's their brand. The extra wax coating makes it super water repellant as a result. And apparently the staff told us this style of jacket lasts for years and years.
The size chart on the amazon listing is useless, but I've since found Fjallraven's own chart, which I'd say is accurate: (I have a 44" chest and that puts me in their XL-XXL bracket).

The sleeves are a bit more generous than I would expect for the size (which is nice if you're layering, chopping wood, etc.)
The length is what I would expect from a "Tall" sized garment (a nice surprise, since those are hard to find).
The hood is very small. Unless you have a child-sized head, it's not going to keep the rain off your face and, if you're like me, you'll have trouble even turning your head with it on and wearing a backpack with the hood on will be uncomfortable. No idea why they would make a hood so ridiculously small.
Material is thinner than I expected, like a heavy shirt material, tightly woven. Unlined. The zipper is the feminine double-zipper style, in case you want to expose your midriff for some reason. It's also the feminine handedness. I really wish European manufacturers would fix the zipper handedness for their exports to America.
I got it on sale. I don't think it's really worth the normal retail price, considering it's just a lightweight shell and doesn't come pre-waxed/oiled. The Australian oilskin options are a better value, but perhaps not as stylish.

But I also expected that it is windproof, which it is not.Read more
