I'm specifically reviewing the DVR 207 from SPY TEC. I chose to purchase from them as they have a physical store in the USA...

This DVR 207 is NOT the GS model. The box I received did say "G-sensor" but it includes the older firmware, which is fine for me. I've only tested 1280x720 30 fps video and it works just fine. 10 min increments and 5 minute increments record flawlessly and are easy to find on the SD card and are recorded as .avi files. I definitely would not classify these videos as "HD" but I'm still able to make out most text while viewing the videos and the recordings are gapless.

The camera it self is very light and feels relatively cheap...don't drop this one! The suction stand is low quality but does the job, it allows the camera to pan, tilt, and rotate in any direction with minimal effort while remaining perfectly stationary and providing a stable recording.

The on camera software is easy to navigate (use the record button as "ok/enter") and offers video/audio settings as well as IR light control. It's simple but effective.

The included usb cable makes this plug n play with any Windows PC, this cable also charges the camera. The battery life is good.

There's always a concern with fakes/bootlegs when it comes to Chinese electronics. I am happy to report that the DVR 207 from SPY TEC is the real deal. For $70 shipped...this is a very good deal.

**NOTES**

- This does NOT include a HDMI cable for on the fly viewing

- I recommend this SD card: B004Q3C98S

- To view your videos: Backup the files to your computer and view with Windows Media Player. VLC did NOT like the codec and constant stuttering was present via this program.

- The battery DOES charge while the camera is plugged in via usb.

The dashcam is pretty cool, small in size, and easy to configure. The swivels and mounts becomes loose easily from the sun's heat. The camera turned on and lasted only 15 minutes then it shut itself off. The second day the camera was on for about 10 minutes then shut itself off again. I understand the heat will cause it to turn off but it was barley 70 degrees this morning. Overal a pretty good camera if it works consistently. Maybe Mine was a bad batch? who knows.. but it is not consistently on and recording so that pretty much blows the deal for me. Kind of defeats the purpose of having a dash cam if it doesn't work when you need it to. I've returned the item.

Very well made, and after over a month of daily use, no problems. I'm using a 32 GIG type 10 SD card with it (a micro with the adapter). The cord was just long enough to go from my console power port that's under the arm rest, and hide it out of the way around the dash and windshield. One of the reasons I chose this one was for the camera tripod mount. I use a Sunpak tripod quick release with it to easily remove it from the mount when I leave the car. Keeps the sun and thieves away from it. I would have given it 5 stars if there was a way to mark a file to keep it from getting deleted. A button on the side for that purpose would be great! However with the 32 Gig card there should be enough time to down load what you want to keep. It can take snapshots, but it takes a couple of moments and button presses to switch over & it's not something to do while driving. You can do it though, if needed, and you'll get a better shot of a tag number. It has motion detection that works OK in the daylight, but not at night, so I keep that switched off. The mount is sturdy and hasn't fell off the windshield, yet. A velcro / wire-tie strap to the mirror is a good safety line, just in case. The movies from it are very clear and steady. Most street signs can be read easily for points of reference. A license plate can be read if you are fairly close. I researched this quite a bit before I bought, and so far, I feel I got the right one.

It does what it says it will do. It dosent like being locked in a car in Texas heat and will black out. But, if you will unplug it and put it in the glove box until you need it. Every thing will work great.

This is just a cheep little camera, but it works well. I expect to get about a year out of it.

After reading all the reviews I purchased this product. It was easy to use in the car and connected it to computer with ease. However, after 2 weeks it stopped working. I had to return it and will probably purchased another one that is higher priced in hopes it will be better quality.

While it worked, it is pretty cheap, has night mode. But within 2 years it stopped working. I have also purchased same looking device from another vendor and while they look exactly the same, they are not. So keep in mind when you look for various dash camera

After reading Dashcamtalk review on this camera, I purchased it. I have no problem with the vendor. They deliver the item quick. As for the product itself that is another question. I was very excited when I got the camera. The DVR will record but once in a while, it will turn on for about 30 second and it will shut down. It happens to me about 4 to 5 times since I purchased this item. The solution was to removed the battery and re-install it to the camera, that reset the whole thing. Another problem is the comp-ability of the SD card. Some SD card will not work on this camera. Read the forum at Dashcamtalk. I may be using the wrong SD card with this camera. The night scenery does not look like the one post it on You Tube for this camera. My night scene are very grainy. The camera is not fake. It came in a blue box. I just purchased the G1W DVR for about 52 dollars. Very impressive with the night and day scenery. Do the research first by going to dashcamtalk. I am not an affiliate with Dashcamtalk just a viewer like yourself. I bought the camera due to an accident I had and the driver claim it was my fault.
