Huge fan of Hot Water Music and his solo stuff. I was hesitant about buying this at first...maybe since it was a soundtrack to a video game - I don't know. I was wrong, this album is great. Really, really like the entire album. There is some slower stuff, some instrumental ("Spanish Moss", some harder edged ("Landsick"), some with obvious gospel influence ("Longwater"). Most impressively, I feel like the theme of moving water is interwoven expertly throughout. Water as a redemptive force and as a metaphor for time are explored while Chuck's maturity as a songwriter and emotion-laden vocal delivery are on full display. Add in excellent fiddle and slide guitar...sometimes raw, sometimes engineered/effects processed (Jon Gaunt and Todd Beene I'd assume). This is great music. Thanks Chuck and all involved. Hope to see you at on the road again one of these days.

Cool game. Found out it has no end so that kind of put some water on the flames of my passion for it - but still a fun game. -- But the soundtrack. So good!!
First time I heard it I knew I had to have it -- and I already love Chuck Ragan. Works either way - if you like the game soundtrack - buy it. If you like Chuck Ragan - buy it. How often is a soundtrack even better than the game its made for? I think that's rare!

The most unorthodox video game soundtrack that I can think of precisely because it's a traditional format for a music album: vocal-heavy, with each song telling a story that complements the game's feeling of lonely survival in the wilderness. The acoustic music and Ragan's raw vocals (reminiscent of Springsteen) almost conjure the image of a small troupe playing songs around a campfire. The album is a little bit short, at only 36 minutes, but what you get is quality, and it easily stands independently of the game. Kudos to The Molasses Flood for bringing Chuck Ragan on to create this album.

This review is not about the album itself which I know is a bit annoying. I don’t think what I received is an original, but a counterfeit. The album itself deserves 5*, it’s chuck ragan so if you’re a fan you won’t be disappointed however the copy I received has a case with no copyrights, labels, musician credits, thanks list, etc etc. Also, this was about £20 including delivery so fully expected an original copy. Avoid buying from this seller even though this is a hard to come by cd.
