This journal has thick pages with very light lines which allow you to write in a straight line, but which are light enough not to intrude on what is being written. They are also wide apart; comparing my Day-Timer with its 32 lines to this journal with only 22 lines per page, it is obvious that more can be written on the Day-Timer's pages. However, as I have gotten older, I find the wider lines easier to use. There has been no problem getting this journal to open flat for ease of writing. The binding has not been any problem for me either. Today's purchase of four (4) more journals will make the sixth through ninth I have purchased this year. I plan to continue purchasing this exact journal as long as it is available as I journal daily. This journal meets my needs better than other journals and is at a price which I find highly acceptable (compared to my Day-Timer journals).

Thoughts for the non heads...
For those few reviewers who complain about the pages "coming out"...this is a sown binding so it's TOTALLY normal to see things like what I show in the picture. It's sown not glued so pages can be pulled up like this but they will not pull out due to the stitching.My complaint is only the paper. It's smooth to the touch, which is nice. However I experienced some weird skipping, hard starts with this paper. It should be known I use fountain pens exclusively in this book. I had the issue with multiple pens, inks & non sizes ranging from Japanese extra fine to stub to flex. The stub had the least problem but still had issues. The paper is REALLY THICK & even with pretty wet nibs I got no bleed through & very VERY light show through...like you have to look to see it.Cover is much like a cheap "bonded leather" bible from the 90s. Not bad but not great. My favorite part is the stiffness; somewhere between a moleskin soft & hard cover. Very easy to write sitting in a comfortable chair.If you're a fountain pen user & can put up with the hard start issues I'd say this is a good notebook.
