Some dimensions that might be helpful:
Seat surface to top of back=31"
Seat surface to floor at minimum=19" I am 6' and the lowest setting is most comfortable.
Seat width arm to arm=20"
Seat front to back=20"
In all the finished chair is a 5 star affair, but here's the fly in the ointment:
Assembly is pretty straight forward with a pictogram to help. The problem comes when attaching the arms to the seat. There are welded nuts in the seat frame that the screws thread into, and the right side was no problem (leave all screws finger tight until everything is together then tighten a little at a time), but the left side nuts did not line up.I was at the brink of sending it back but as a last attempt I threaded in through the arm one at a time and used the arm as leverage to "tweak" the nuts into alignment. This is iffy but it worked for me-Try at your own risk.
Overall I am very happy with the finished product, it's actually better than the picture shows. Even knowing what I do, I would order this chair again. I will try to come back after a time and let you know how withstands the test of time.
Well, here it is November 6 '13 and I'm chair shopping again!!! Here is the rest of the story. By October I really began to notice that the foam under the main seating area (where my butt sits) has indeed flattened. What this does is cause me to sit lower in the chair which makes the armrests too high, and even worse the firm lumbar support now hits in the middle of my back which is quite uncomfortable. Also, since the cushion portion at the front of the seat has not flattened, it gives the effect of sitting in a hole. It's too bad because the chair still looks as nice as it did the day we got it, but it just doesn't hold up under constant use. Bye the way for reference I weigh 158# so I don't think it's a case of overloading. So the search goes on...
This chair was pretty difficult to build, but I do like it. Despite it sort of resembling a familiar male extremity -.-
Now, as soon as I received the package, I noticed it looked like a 4 year old wrapped it. I've never seen so much tape anywhere lol. Also there was a big hole as if someone took a baseball bat to it. I was worried but I checked all of the insides and everything seemed to be okay, besides minor scratches on the black shiny plastic. (looked bigger irl but) See pictures for hole in box
I am 6'2" and I did quite a bit of research before buying to find a chair that suited me at an affordable price point. So, this chair was the winner. I found this chair on a blog, and this blogger claimed this was a great chair for gamers because of the adjustable/raise-able headrest. That was a plus in my eyes, but not the only reason I bought it. I am here to tell you, there is no way to adjust or raise the headrest. Maybe that was Flash Furniture trying to get some business, but still wouldn't be a deal breaker for me. This chair is tall, and my head does fit. Also I need to mention being 6'2" and (not slim enough I guess(even though I'm 180lbs)), my shoulders feel very awkward on this chair. Where the "helmet" sits on the middle-back area, the bottom/sides of the helmet sticks out and pokes into the shoulders. All that being said, I like this chair and it feels good for my posture. Decent for gaming.
Some of my complaints right after building it is that for my chair, it seems both sides were differently shaped. Meaning, the red piping is actually squished and folding on one side while the other side it is barely even touching - like it should be. For my chair, there is one good side and one bad side. (To be more clear, see attached pictures) This was based on the shape of the seat, not the builder. I took that apart 4-5 times to see if I could get both sides even, but it won't work that way. Another complaint is the leather on one side squeaking. Most chairs do this, so its hard to dock a star solely based on that.
-powerful hydraulic system, goes up and down smoothly.
-rolls easily, not so well on carpet but it works.
-comfortable to an extent
-black and red looks nice
-smooth leather that doesn't stick to your skin
-oddly shaped, look-wise and feel-wise
-more stiff than I anticipated, but over time it won't sink in (I dont think)
-not very breathable
-the shiny plastic on parts like the armrest seems to be susceptible to scratches
All in all, decent chair. I like it, I must say its much better than my old chair. I will have pictures attached to show everything I was explaining. Try to have an extra body to help you build this, it will save a headache. Thanks for reading.
High back, which makes it nice to lean back into.
Easy assembly, in my opinion.
Padded arm rests are nice.
This chair has started breaking on me! The screws are getting stripped, and the way it connects, I don't think it'll last much longer. Wish the back connected to the base in a way that didn't put so much stress on a few screws when you lean back. I weigh about 195 lbs, so not so big that the chair should be breaking. Disappointing.
The material isn't breathable at all. A mesh chair would be much better to keep your lower parts from sweating too much...
The black paint scratches easily. When you push the chair in, potentially under a desk, it'll scratch the paint.
The cushioning gets pretty flat/not effective after awhile. The butt part isn't cushy anymore.
Basically, this chair was pretty good for awhile, but it's quickly starting to fall apart on me. For a chair that costs this much, it should last much longer and be more durable!
Assembling the chair took maybe 20 minutes. The left arm rest wasn't manufactured perfectly, so mine shakes a little when you move the arm rest. The chair is very comfy though, and looks amazing.
