Great Chair.

Very well built office chair. It was not quite tall enough to use with the "Stand up Desk" it was purchased for. Added the "Replacement Drafting Stool Gas Lift Cylinder Pneumatic Shock - Full Stool Height - S6120" and it worked almost perfectly. The original cylinder had grooves in it for the foot ring to mount with. I went to the hardware store and purchased a piece of galvanized pipe and a can of spray paint. Used the pipe to hold the plastic that keeps the foot ring in place. Works flawlessly. If you seen it you could not tell the pipe is even there. It looks like it should. Unless you have a need to keep your shoulders at the in the same position to your keyboard no matter if you are standing at your desk or sitting at your desk, the standard cylinder would most likely be fine. The extended cylinder makes the chair taller than a bar stool.

Instructions really are CRAP! (But great chair)

Edited again 10/30/14 - I solved the chair height problem using the following item ordered on Amazon - Replacement Drafting Stool Gas Lift Cylinder Pneumatic Shock - Full Stool Height - S6120. Fits & works perfectly. Maximum height is now about 35" - way too high for me, but something in between that and the lowest is perfect for me. I use an electrically height adjustable drafting table for work - now I can easily step off my chair and work standing up - which was my goal all along. The hardest part was getting the previous cylinder out. Luckily, plenty of instructional videos on YouTube.Replacement Drafting Stool Gas Lift Cylinder Pneumatic Shock - Full Stool Height - S6120

I read the other reviews and figured I could put this chair together easily. I've done plenty of chair assembly. Firstly, this thing is HUGE. The foot ring looks like the steering wheel from a ship - approx. 29" in diameter. The foot ring in not adjustable. The seat doesn't tilt. The back tilts -or- locks in upright position. Now, on to the instructions - they suck. Very basic, but, you can figure it out. Now for the interesting part- Like another reviewer mentioned, the height isn't that great. The relationship between the seat and foot ring at the seats highest position is too close causing my legs to bend. I called the manufacturer to see if I could purchase a longer cylinder. As noted in another review, the chair comes with 2 cylinders - drafting height & chair height. The instructions state nothing about the following - Install the long cylinder into the base, then, install the small cylinder on TOP of the long cylinder. The small cylinder nests on top of the long cylinder. That gives you substantially more height. This mfg. should really clarify their instructions.

CORRECTION: disregard the above regarding putting 1 cylinder on top of another - the Flash Furniture rep sent me another complete set of cylinders - she totally misinformed me. You CANNOT stack these cylinders. The chair is still too short. It's still comfortable, well built, but......TOO SHORT.

Ordered this chair after researching what was out there for people who are larger than average. I purchased the drafting version that includes a longer lift cylinder and foot ring. I have not installed the foot ring.
Chair is comfortable to sit in, does allow the back to recline a bit, has a manually adjustable lower back support, and it does not feel like I am sitting on the floor (tall people take note here). The standard lift cylinder was also in the box, but don't know if that was deliberate or not.
Casters arrived damaged due to long transit to destination in a box made for container shipping. Replacements were installed, and all is well.
I would recommend this chair (drafting model) for tall people.

I just put this chair together. It is big.... big footprint on the group, big ring for your foot rest, big chair itself. I understand it is designed for bigger people and well it is built for it. It comes with both center gas cylinders, so you can use this for a tall desk or a normal size desk. I like that fact. The instructions were 2 parts.. 1 for the chair and one for the foot rest. Just simple picture diagrams. I was able to put this together after looking at all the parts and the drawings. As of day 1, it is comfy. Hopefully it stays that way.

Perfect size for my 6' 8" frame.

Update (April 2017)- I utilize this with an Autonomous standing desk (which I LOVE), but I'm not so found of this chair. After a few months, I've noticed that the chair isn't holding up to my expectations in terms of value or strength. I think the first thing to fail, as they seem to do in ALL chairs, is the locking mechanism. This chair doesn't seem to want to lock upright, which makes the range of motion in the seat back a bit more than I'd like. Further, there are small hairline cracks starting to develop in the metal foundation of the seat. So, hopefully, I can get these resolved under a warranty.

Nice chair with a major flaw. The cylinder provided isn’t long enough to reach table height for a normal drafting table (big disappointment). Some reviewers have suggested a longer cylinder available for purchase. Manufacturer should provide the right cylinder for the job up front. Again, build quality is good, but buy a different chair if you want promised drafting height. Super disappointed for the money spent on this product.

The chair came with 2 gas cylinders none of which gave right hight for my purpose. I had to get 8" cylinder Heavy Duty 8" Stroke Replacement Drafting Stool Gas Lift Cylinder Pneumatic Shock - Medium Stool Height - S6115-HD which gives around 22" - 29" height range as measured from the floor to the top of the seat.
Approximate height ranges for other cylinders I tried:
Small cylinder (included): 21" - 26"
Standard cylinder (included): 23" - 31"
10" Replacement Drafting Stool Gas Lift Cylinder Pneumatic Shock - Full Stool Height - S6120 : 25" - 35"
The ring can fit on Standard cylinder only which has grooves for ring fitting.

Update on this chair
First bought this chair in 2016, and I used it for over 30 months, it was also used by co-workers and visitors … the chair worked much better than I hoped and I was able to replace the cylinder with a heavy duty drafting stool cylinder and retain the large foot rest.
After all this time, the only thing that failed was one of the wheels and I'm surprised that one has not broken earlier.
two years plus years is acceptable for daily use. ( 7 days a week, 11-12 hours a day)
I am no longer disappointed with this chair and am giving it 5 stars
Additional updates replacement chair broke wheel after 14 months,

This is a sturdy chair, easy to assemble and comfortable. I did not attach the ring. I find on my tile floor I have to be very careful so that it does not slide out from under me as I sit in it. The arms do not come forward enough to grasp onto so I grab under the front of the seat to stabilize it.
