We contacted Amazon, who directed us to customer service at Flash Furniture. They went round after round with my wife, asking her to send in photos, asking which section had broken. When we replied it was the middle section of the 3-piece sectional, we got repeat emails asking us to clarify which section…and if we did not reply in a timely manner the agent would be forced to close the case.
To be clear, the couch has three sections: an end section on the left and an end section on the right, and in the MIDDLE is the middle section, or loveseat, if you insist, Kay from Flash Furniture Horrible Customer Service Department. (See the picture on Amazon if you still need clarification, Kay.)
After a few more rounds of this abuse to get the middle section replaced, our request was supposedly granted. And then Kay sent this email today:

Unfortunately, this has been denial as a defect. There is nothing further we can do to assist in my matter. Thank you for your inquiry, and my apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause.
Starts out well, though it did not greet us by name. Kay showed some remorse when she wrote “unfortunately,” but beyond that it is a poorly written rejection with no real explanation.
It is time to reject these people and this sort of business practice.
Just like another review said, our frame on the 3 cushion piece has broken also. You can still sit on the couch, but you can feel the difference in support as you fall into the couch more. This is why it gets 4 stars. I don't want to bash the sofa too much because I believe our son may have broken it when he was jumping from the ottoman to the sofa.
EDIT: after a year of ownership, I have to Shang my rating from 5 stars to 2. The back cusion on the chase was not filled as thoroughly as the others, and you can see it in my original photos even. I thought that it would fluff a bit after being unpackaged for a while, but that never happened. It only got worse. My major complaint however is the quality of the cushion covers. Our biggest reason for purchasing this sectional in particular was the ability to remove the seat cushion covers, and wash them. If you have pets, and children I’m sure you know how appealing that is. Well we followed the manufacturers directions for washing, and I even covered the Velcro so that it would not get stuck to anything it wasn’t supposed to during the wash/dry cycle. I also zipped the covers closed. Despite my preemptive measures, after only one wash there was thread all over the place. I actually had to trim some of it in order yo replace the covers, and keep them from catching in the zipper. After the second wash, the black fabric from the underside began tearing at the seams. This is impossible to prevent. The fabric is just not durable at all. Even with the Velcro covered, it winds up sticking to other parts of the cushion cover. I’d also like to add that I washed these covers separately. We will probably try to contact Ashley and inquire about replacement cushions, and covers. I’m sure it will be fruitless, and a major headache. The last 4 photos were added with this edit one 1/23/2018
