About the Author

Annie Bellet is the author of the Pyrrh Considerable Crimes Division and the Gryphonpike Chronicles series. She holds a BA in English and a BA in Medieval Studies and thus can speak a smattering of useful languages such as Anglo-Saxon and Medieval Welsh.   Her short fiction work is available in multiple collections and anthologies.

Her interests besides writing include rock climbing, reading, horse-back riding, video games, comic books, table-top RPGs and many other nerdy pursuits.  She lives in the Pacific Northwest with her husband and a very demanding Bengal cat.

"He or she is using me to burn things down." Slick storyline about an individual (Remy) capable of picking up information by touching objects while assisting a fire elemental in mortal form (Sally) uncovering the real killer. A very good book with a likeable protagonist that I look forward to reading more of in the other series and short stories!

This was suggested to me from Amazon since i have read a few other books in the science fiction genre. This is really not science fiction, more pulp fiction trying to have something to say but slightly missing the mark. I am sure that Ms. Bellet has written more stories well or hopefully better than this. Sadly I don't think I will risk reading others right now. It is short (I read it in thirty minutes). It has no character development and no chapter breaks, but plenty of paragraph breaks. I am assuming it is Ms. Bellet's first book so there is a manner of first time publishing and whatnot. I am trying to be as polite as possible. Great idea for the characters it really needs to be re-written to develop more and be more consistent.

Well done, written with a nice, gumshoe meets paranormal flair. It's a great example of the short story done right.
