One negative comment - the contacts and contact pins on the grip seem to have a small alignment or length issue (at least on the one I got). When fully inserted into the body and locked in place, the camera body more often than not will incorrectly show the batteries as fully discharged and prevent the camera from firing up. I tried several fully charged batteries and it still showed them as discharged. After a little research on the net, it appears that this is a common problem with this grip. The solution; place a small piece of cardboard, approximating the thickness of a two layer greeting card between the body and the grip before tightening the screw. This seems to add just the right tweak and solves the problem, or at least it has so far.
Putting it side by side with my friend's MB-D80, i really cant tell the difference. the feel is just the same and it functions just the same. So i'm happy that i didn't go to the MD80 which is 3times as much as this flashpoint (meike) grip.
The AA battery alternative power source is awesome! i forgot to charge my D90 battery so i just rushed to the nearest 7/11, grabbed some AA batteries and i'm all powered up!
The only thing that i don't like about this grip is the thin (just for me because i have big fingers) lock handle that you twist to open the battery bay but I can't complain about it because even the Nikon MB-D80 has that kind of lock handle. This doesn't affect the rating i will give to this grip.
If will see any problem in the future, i will update this review.
Overall, i recommend this to the people who's searching for an extension of their battery life, alternative power source, and good grip for vertical shooting. Good buy for your buck!
One other minor thing I don't care for......
But, this is noticeable on both this product and the Nikon. There is an "ever-so-slight" feel of movement between the battery grip and the camera, even when it is snugged down real tight. Again, it's a VERY minor complaint, but one none the less.
Overall, great product and AMAZING price !!!!!
