Nathan is so sweet and I just love how his thoughts alway seemed to leak out. Unfortunately, Nathan was not sure who he was sexually because he never fit into what everyone said was normal. That was till he met Gabriel. Gabriel was able to give Nathan what he was missing and needed. It was great to see how their relationship went from roommates/friends to having a loving relationship. Sadly, we also get to see how others judge what they don't understand. I love how Nathan was able to stand up for what he knew was right and not feel like he had to justify/explain their relationship.
Overall this was a sweet, hot love story. I for one love the puppy play aspect of their relationship. I really hope Eric and Marcus ending up getting a book as well. I would love to read their story.
If your wanting to read something a little different and have an open mind, then I highly recommend reading Flawed Perfection by M.A. Innes you will love Nathan and Gabriel.
Updated - changed from 4 to 5 stars based on audio book. Here is my review from Audible.com:
Would you consider the audio edition of Flawed Perfection to be better than the print version?
Yes. When I read the ebook, I gave it 4 stars, which meant that I really liked it. Hearing it performed just brought it more to life for me, and I had to add another star.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Flawed Perfection?
Nathan learning to wag his tail cracked me up. I also liked when he stood up to his so-called friends.
What does Kenneth Obi bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Kenneth Obi did a great job overall, but especially with Nathan. I felt like I was in his head with him as his thoughts flitted all over the place. The sexiness and innocence shone through as well.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
It made me laugh a couple of times and smile often.
Any additional comments?
This author always provides stories that are kinky and yet really sweet. This was no exception. I enjoyed it immensely. I was provided a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.
The story starts by giving us a peek into the two men's relationship as roommates. It is very quickly determined that while Gabriel isn't necessarily being Nathan's Dom, he is being Nathan's Dom by taking care of him and making sure the man stays healthy. Nathan needs someone to help him stay focused on life. He's very successful in his job, but the rest of life? The man slept on the bathroom floor one night because he was too tired to make it to bed. Nathan needs someone to keep track of him, otherwise he would easily work himself to death.
The added element of Nathan's college friends was sad. I understand the need of Allie to make sure her friend wasn't being abused, but she didn't take the time to listen to him. Plus she twisted things around to fit her needs. She heard one thing and made the assumption it was like what her mother went through and that was it. I found it incredibly sad that the college friends didn't take the time to truly find out what was going on. It made me feel like Nathan wasn't that important to them. He was the socially awkward puppy they found on campus that didn't understand life, so they had to give him constant direction. (Pun kind of intended.) But instead of taking a step back to see that Nathan had grown and was in a good place, they wanted to keep him as the socially awkward kid they met in college. Allie handled everything so wrong, but then again, none of the other friends tried to find out what was going on either. Very sad. Except for Eric, who we learned was in his own kinky lifestyle. I'd like to see that couple in their own book.
MA Innes is a great writer that consistently weaves interesting stories about the more kinkier side of life, without being disrespectful. We get to see, with almost all of her books, the couple dealing with the lifestyle and how to make it fit their life. She is one of my automatic buys.
Well, I don't mind it because it is sweet and care taking oh and kinky.
Nathan is socially awkward and isn't sure what is sexuality is.
Then, hmmm sub. And then we get a slow seduction and plenty of consent and discussion which is nice.
What works is that the couple works and the drama about friends judging a relationship is an interesting.
However, the conflict isn't well paced or well developed.
The blurb for Secrets in darkness drew me in and I laughed so much went shopping for another one time.
This is like five times better. Hooked, line and sinker, slam dunk and the sex, God's the sex, don't get me started.
Have been extremely stingy with my fives, this one was a easy Mark. Hilarious.
