This appears to be a collection of photos of various people’s homes that incorporate a lot of flea market items, with a few projects sprinkled in. Unfortunately, I didn’t find it very inspiring because none of these homes seem realistic or practical to live in – they all look like showrooms full of cluttered vignettes meant for magazines (or perhaps this very book!). Also, many of the projects are pretty fussy and impractical (I don’t know who is going to waste time making garlands from fake flowers or making ice rings from fresh lilacs solely for the purpose of cooling a drink in a fancy fashion). Not to mention, for a book on flea market finds, there’s shockingly little mention of furniture, one of the items that can be real steals at flea markets.
Overall, I’m rather disappointed in this book. It didn’t inspire me and it honestly was more fluff than substance. I guess it could be a decent coffee table book since it’s full of colorful pictures, but I can’t recommend it for much more than that. If you want good info on sprucing up flea market items, I’d keep looking.
Filled with gorgeous photos and lots of color, it is a treat to look at. However, it's not just eye candy, but is
also filled with pages of great ideas to put thrifty finds to use, then create stunning vignettes with those projects. It is a book I can reference again and again to give me a jolt of inspiration.
