Perfect: simple, inexpensive & bright

I am very pleased with this product, it was exactly what I hoped it would be. I have been creating a "library" wall by combining 6 bookcases & shelves across a 18foot wall. Since the ceilings are so high I decided I would prop some of my paintings above the cases & that they needed lighting. After researching the least expensive diy options these led strip lights seemed just the thing: within my limited budget & not requiring alot of technical skill to install. A guick search of youtube, a simple video later & I had all the info I needed. Because I am concerned about dust, but the led tracks were to expensive with that long of wall I had to find another option. My local hardware store had protective tubes for florescent bulbs 8feet long($5). I taped the led strip to a 1/2"pvc moulding($2.53), slide the moulding into the tube & taped the ends to seal out dust. I now have two 8 feet Long led light tubes that I can vacumn off without having to worry about messing up a contact or knocking the tape off. I had installed a 1 1/2 inch moulding board across all the cases to make them look more built in & the tube sits nicely right behind it. You cant see it from the front at all, but it illuminates the paintings well. These lights Do Not come with a power cable so be sure to get one. I also added a dimmer switch to mine, which I really like. The lights are a warm yellow & put out an amazing amount of light for being so little. I have no ceiling lights & these totally transform the room. They can be cut to any length you need & are well marked. I look forward to installing them in my display cases next.

These are the least expensive LED strip lights I've found. They are CONSTANT VOLTAGE and can be dimmed using the correct driver. I installed these under, over and inside of kitchen cabinets. I wanted to control them from a typical wall switch and have them dimmable from that wall switch. After a lot of research, and trial and error, I came up with a workable solution. They work perfect. No flicker. No hum. Complete dimming control from full bright to just visible. You need to make sure the wall light switch dimmer is compatible with driver and compatible with the LED strip lights and each other. Not just any LED compatible wall light switch dimmer or driver or LED light strip combination will work. Trust me on this. I researched and tried several combinations and worked with the engineers at Magnitude to come up with the correct combination. Will other combinations work? Some did, MOST DID NOT.

Install the dimmer switch and run the 120v AC from this switch to the area you want to install the LED strip lights. This is where you install the LED driver that reduces the 120v AC to 12v DC. Make sure the dimmer switch and driver are GROUNDED. Connect the LED strip lights to the driver and you are done.

These are the dimmers and drivers I used with these LED light strips. They are not cheap. BUT THEY WORK PERFECT!

Lutron DVCL-153PR 120V Wall Dimmer (Local Big Box Store)
Magnitude E60L12DC-KO Dimmable LED Voltage Driver (Search On Line - shop around....price varies quite a bit)

The "60" in the above Magnitude driver part number indicates it is rated for 60 watts of output. Each 16.4 foot of these LED light strips equals 24 watts. Magnitude does make other wattage capacity of these drivers. Just look for the number after the "L" that indicates the wattage. Do not exceed the wattage rating for each run.

These worked out so well, I installed them in the pantry and hooked them up to a magnetic door relay for "Auto On" when opening the pantry door.

THESE THINGS ARE BRIGHT!

I used these to replace some rope lights I had been using as under cabinet lights when one section of the rope went out. I bought 2 strips because I have 2 sections of cabinets that I am lighting. Installed them which was incredibly easy. While I am on the subject, several reviews complain about the adhesive but I think the problem is with their greasy cabinets and not the tape as I actually installed these and then peeled them completely off and put them back up and they worked perfectly. The reason I did this is twofold: One, they were so bright I had to use HALF a strip on each side and Secondly, the 2 strips did not quite match in the color of the light they produced. One was a nice clean "White", close to a "warm" white but not quite. The other strip was a yellowish almost green color that did not work at all with the other strip. But like I said, I cut the "white" strip in half and put half on each side which was easy as these come with extra leads and connector clips. Guess I will save the other strip for some other project, not worth the cost of returning them. I can not believe the amount of light these produce, actually quite amazing.

Be sure to get the polarity (+\-) correct. On My first few installs I thought the LEDs were shorting out or otherwise defective. Nope, user error. Fantastic buy!!!!!!!!!

Five stars to Lighting EVER for service. One of the two packs did not light correctly out of the box. I didn't know why, but it just would not light. (I now know why, btw.) I sent them a seller-message. I'm sure that they answered it, but I lost it in my junk mailbox. So how do I know this? BECAUSE THEY SENT ME ANOTHER BOX. No argument, no questions! THANK YOU, L-E. Answer to why the first ring would not work: See those little white contact connectors? (I'm ashamed I didn't figure this out more quickly...) One tiny lead was misformed and would not make good contact. Solution: I pulled out my circuit board soldering gun and spot- soldered all the contacts to the LED strips for every contact. This resolved the flickering and fading completely, and now I have very nice kick-lighting. Get the LED strip mounting brackets to keep the LEDs nice and tight under the counter, and center-load the power (speaker wire) for longer runs to prevent dimming. Add a slider dimmer switch for a professional install.
