An air fryer is a kitchen appliance that cooks by circulating hot air around the food. A mechanical fan circulates the hot air around the food at high speed, cooking the food and producing a crispy layer thanks to the Maillard effect. By circulating air up to 200 Celsius or 392 degrees Fahrenheit this appliance fries several foods like potato chips, chicken, fish or pastries and it uses less oil than traditional fryer. Adjustable temperature and timer knobs that allow for more precise cooking. Food is cooked in the cooking basket that sits atop a drip tray. By using less oil to fry, air fryers become a healthier alternative to traditionally deep fried foods which can increase the risk of cardiovascular diseases, hypertension, diabetes, and obesity.

You need to keep an eye so you won't over dry the food when you warm it up.
No matter what everyone says..... No, it does not taste exactly the same as fried food.
It is healthier and taste good but not the same.
you can heat up pizza, and pre-made patties and they will taste good actually but I tried to make my own Schnitzel (breaded chicken breast) and it didn't even look tasty, maybe try to add oil spray and that will do the work.
It shrinks burgers but they taste ok....
Let's say if I would have bought the cheapest one or the most expensive one I would feel the same.
I've used my Air Fryer now several times and love it. I'm still getting use to the fryer and the do's and don't. For example, I cooked frozen pirogies and they came out a little too crunch. It's a little trial and error for me right now but thisoldgal.com has lots of recipes.
So far I've made homemade pot stickers, crab rangoon, wings, and frozen pirogies. The fryer heats up quickly, my house doesn't stink like it does with our deep fryer and clean up is so easy. I love that I'm not using a ton of oil so I'm not only saving money but it's also healthier.
Some recipes and tips that I've found online confused me at first because the use degrees celsius and this fryer uses Fahrenheit so be aware of that.
Can't wait to try more recipes and again, I'll update my review as time goes on....
5 star review for now after my first use.
My first recipe was homemade pork pot stickers and it did take a few tries to get them just right but no food was wasted. I froze what I had left over and plan to just air fry those up as I need. I buy perogies from the store that are frozen and plan on cooking them in the air fryer.
I love that I hardly need any oil at all! I used maybe a half teaspoon of oil and mixed it with a cup or so of water to coat the pot stickers and I barely used any of it.
The air fryer seems to heat up fairly quick.
So far clean up was easy but I just used it for that one recipe.
I wish there were better instructions or recipes that came with the fryer but the internet is loaded with information so keep that in mind. I found a website (thisoldgal.com) and that's were I started with recipes. She does a ton of pressure cooker recipes and that's actually how I found out about the air fryer and thought I'd pull the trigger.
The directions are not very user friendly at all. For example, there is a diagram of the fryer and a list of what each feature is but one is on the first page and the other is on the last. Also, unless I'm missing something, the fryer uses Fahrenheit and and the directions are in Celsius. Maybe there is a way to change it on the fryer (however I wouldn't on mine). But it's not a big deal for me at all because I've been looking up recipes online and I can easily do a conversion.
I'll update my review after I've used this cooker for a while. Tonight is the Super Bowl so we are going to air fry up some wings!
Doesn't stink up the house like our fryer does
Doesn't use a lot of oil at all (so it's healthier and we save $$)
Easy clean up
The fryer isn't as loud as I thought it would be so that's a plus
I would have liked some recipes to be included (there is a home fry recipe but that's it)
The directions are not 100% clear and the terminology hurt my head at times but I usually do a little research online anyway
Directions use degrees Celsius and the fryer uses Fahrenheit
I just got some accessories for this like a little pizza pan, cake pan and things and so excited about all the things I can use this for.
Also, I cannot stress enough, the cleanup... NO OIL! NO SPLATTER! MINIMAL MESS. My dog makes a bigger mess eating than this does making even the messest of foods.
-no main power swjtch, have to unplug it (smart home hack, wifi enabled outlet switch, now I just tell Alexa to turn on my air fryer.)
-the instructions on time and temp are a bit confusing especially if you are cooking something like frozen fries. But I guess it's a trial an error thing.
-I didn't get this sooner! What was I thinking!
