These traps are massive house fly magnets and I was not given a discount for my honest review.

I bought these because a friend uses them in Knoxville and for some reason horse and deer flies fly right in her traps. (To be fair, these are not advertised as a biting fly trap and the company clearly states that in the many questions and answers. I was just hopeful since it apparently works on Knoxville biting flies.)
I am simultaneously grossed out and engrossed watching these fill up with flies. I put two up immediately and then closely inspected over a two week period. The traps attracted and killed thousands and thousands of flies, but not a single deer or horse fly flew in so I took them down and incinerated them in a roaring hot campfire (because folks, that maggoty stench and liquid brew is right out of the depths of Hell). Until I bought the first trap I can't say I was bothered by houseflies but following two weeks of peaceful fly-free buzzing, I had to put up another one.
Now the bad news: these traps take a few days for the magic stew to brew and then with each passing day, the stench grows more remarkable. We see buzzards flying overhead just when the traps are just working their finest magic. I have it hung about 1/3 of an acre from the house but if there's a breeze, I catch a scent. If you are overwhelmed with houseflies, these will significantly impact their population. But if you're a person with a quick gag reflex, be warned and post them as far away as possible (which is the manufacturer's recommendation).
I'm still looking for a biting fly trap that works though......
