While meeting his brother in the woods in 1978, David Freeman falls down a ravine. He gets up to discover that it's suddenly 1986. Where has he been for the last 8 years? Meanwhile, NASA has found a space ship. Is there a connection? Can they find a way into the ship? And who keeps calling David inside his mind?

I loved this movie as a kid. While the first part seems slow and rather obvious if you've heard of the premise, the second part is a fun ride. Once David meets up with Max, things pick up and the movie switch from mystery to comedy. Watching it today, I was impressed by the special effects. This movie is almost 20 years old and they still hold up very well.

This is basically a movie only DVD release. The film is presented in wide screen and surround sound. But for the price, you're getting a great deal.

While not great cinema, this is a movie that the entire family will have fun watching together. Get it today and enjoy.

I first saw Flight of the Navigator(1986) in 1988. The kids in the classroom cheered at the dogs catching frisbees and Alan Silvestri's intergalactic, energetic, synthesizer driven music score. This is a Norwegian production bought up by Walt Disney Pictures and it was directed by Randal Kleiser(Grease). In the 1980's, there was a mix of movies about aliens from outer space. The aliens in The Thing(1982) were hostile while E.T. in E.T. The Extra Terrestrial(1982) was benign. Flight of the Navigator flopped in 1986, but it found success on VCR's and TV. Joey Cramer played David Freeman, a boy living in Florida in 1978. He's kidnapped by aliens and dumped back on Earth in 1986. David is held captive in a NASA base and a UFO tries to help him get back home. Paul Reubens provided the voice of the robot "Max" under the name "Paul Mall". The first hour of Flight of the Navigator is a moody science fiction drama. The second hour turns into a funny, action packed family film. The film was packed with state of the art visual effects and early CGI. A young Sarah Jessica Parker plays an intern that befriends David.
David's brother is bratty in 1978 and sensitive and caring in 1986. This film isn't perfect. There's a romantic subplot with David and a girl in 1978 that goes nowhere. This film was a hit on VHS and TV; Walt Disney Pictures was unable or unwilling to produce a sequel. There are rumors about a remake in the works. Flight of the Navigator is an underrated classic from the 1980's.

The "Flight of the Navigator" was one of my absolute favorites as a kid. I couldn't even begin to guess how many times I had watched it. Once I found it available on Blu-Ray, it was a no-brainer. It's an awesome, family-friendly, sci-fi movie. It was fun to watch it again and see things I either didn't remember, or missed because of my age. It was also great to see Sarah Jessica Parker at such a young age. I would absolutely recommend to any sci-fi lovers, kids who are into sci-fi, or just generally a good family movie that everybody would enjoy.

This is one of my kids favorite movies. When they became adults, they all still remember it and want to watch it. Now their kids are getting it. It's engaging and with PeeWee Herman as the ship's voice I find it funny. My kids ran around saying "Compliance" over and over. This is a great movie with a lovely story about family.

There are second interruptions and a lot of times the voice does not match the movement of the mouth..like a delaid reaction or sonething with the audio. If I can return it, get another copy..rewat h it and give another review, that would be great.

Classic 1980s. Doesn't really stand up to today's standards all that well, but it's an amazing trip down memory lane.

My favorite movie growing up. I watched it daily for months, to the dismay of my older brothers. Great ridiculous 80's flick. "too many Twinkies!"
