About the Author

Robert Sullivan, a veteran of Time Inc. publications, is the managing editor at LIFE Books and has written on natural history, Santalogy, and Arctic topics for a variety of magazines. He has appeared on numerous national television shows and is two-time recipient of the Wilbur Award. He lives in New York with his wife, three children, and psychotic Springer Spaniel.

Glenn Wolff grew up in Traverse City, Michigan. He studied printmaking at Northwestern Michigan College, and received his BFA from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. His career began as an illustrator for such clients as the New York Times, the Village Voice, the Central Park Conservancy, and the New York Zoological Society. In 1987 he returned to Northern Michigan, concentrating on fine art and book illustration. Glenn's mixed media fine art has been shown throughout the United States and Canada, and is included in numerous private and public collections.

This book is definitely not for children. More for middle school students IF they are very good readers. The format looks like a children's book so it might have a hard time attracting the right reader. Very heavy into trying to prove the existence of flying reindeer, elves and the Santa Claus described in the Moore poem. If you enjoy collecting all things Santa, this should be in your collection. Otherwise, you might want to skip it.

This is an awesome book! Children from Kindergarten through 99 will enjoy this book and even smaller children can enjoy the pictures and some of the facts. If you are a believer in Santa Claus and his flying reindeer then this book brings the hope that you never have to stop believing no matter how old you are. If you are not a believer in Santa Claus and his mission, then there is hope that you will be after reading this book. Yay for Christmas!

Attention all parents and grandparents. This is a must buy for Christmas -- maybe as a gift, maybe just to have to share with the children.

I share this book with many children who are either on the edge of believing in Santa or have completely stopped believing. The scientific and professional articles in this book usually convince them to once again believe in the magic of Christmas and Santa Claus.

This book is best used when a child and an adult look at it together. Some of the scientific concepts can be easily explained by an adult, adding to the experience.

This is my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE holiday book. It shows real pictures of the north pole, and santa clause. We pass this book around to any kid that is starting to doubt, and they instantly believe again. The history of santa clause and the reindeer is fascinating, and an interesting read. It's a pretty dense book for being so small.

Shows that Santa has been around at least 2000 years, & that reindeer do fly. For any other subject, this book might get boring, but when it's about Santa & reindeer it's absolutely facinating. I especially like the photos & interview with the North Pole explorer who stumbled on Santa's village...the only person ever to do so. It's full of experts on the artic, Santa, reindeer, etc. Also discusses the people in the world who are Santa Helpers. Everyone should read this book. Well worth three times the purchase price.
