Product Description
A tropical island has been invaded by enemies and cluttered with obstacles, and only your true aim and perfect pitch can save the day! Using the Wii MotionPlus accessory, you’ll precisely fling a ball at targets to smash your way-block by block, foe after foe-across eight zany worlds! Fling-and-smash action with Wii MotionPlus: Hit the ball as if swinging a racket, and then watch as it flies off and bounces around like a pinball, smashing everything in its path! You’ll fling and smash your way through sidescrolling worlds where enemies and barriers rush toward you! Second-player sidekick: A second player can join the action, controlling his own ball through the whole adventure, or just lending a helping hand for the more-advanced levels and most fiendish bosses! In addition, eight unlockable minigames can be played with two players. (Note: A second Wii Remote with its own Wii MotionPlus accessory is needed for two-player action.) Crazy island worlds: As you fling your way across the island, you’ll smash through beaches, underwater grottos, jungle treetops, and other tropical locations. But this is no walk in the park: these eight worlds, each with three levels and a boss battle, keep ramping up the challenge. Your ball will be shrunk down, fattened up, or transformed into heavy steel! Your aim will be thrown off by wind currents and ocean undertows, and you’ll face new targets that will push your flinging skills to the limit!

Introducing a Spherical Smash-Hit Hero
FlingSmash combines the hands-on fun of tennis with the nonstop action and instant gratification of pinball. When the tropical Suthon Island is invaded by the evil Omminus, the ball-shaped hero, Zip, is summoned to save the day. Using the Wii Remote Plus, you'll fling Zip at targets to smash your way across eight colorful worlds. Use the Wii Remote Plus like a racket and watch Zip bounce around like a pinball to smash through oncoming barriers and enemies in this action side-scroller.
The Wii Remote Plus Controller
The Wii Remote Plus Controller is the new standard controller for the Wii gaming system and is included with your copy of FlingSmash. Combining the original accelerometer enabled motion-sensing abilities of the original iconic Wii Remote controller with with the expanded capabilities that were once only accessible through the Wii MotionPlus accessory, the compact Wii Remote Plus controller offers players precision motion controls all in one unit. Added benefits include the same game compatibility of the Wii Remote and full compatibility with all Wii Remote peripherals.
Key Game Features
- Use the included Wii Remote Plus controller to precisely fling and smash your way through enemies and past barriers with a fun combination of racket motions and pinball game play. Hit Zip and watch as he bounces around like a pinball, smashing everything in his path.
- A second player can join the action using an additional Wii Remote Plus or by using a Wii Remote controller and Wii MotionPlus accessory (each sold separately) to control Zip's friend, Pip.
- During the game, Zip and Pip travel through eight fast-action side-scrolling worlds, each culminating in a boss battle. Each level offers a unique challenge as Zip might be shrunk down, fattened up or turned into a heavy steel ball. Other levels turn the action on its head to scroll vertically instead of horizontally.
- The vividly colored worlds include sandy beaches, lush tropical treetops and even underwater grottos.
- FlingSmash has eight unlockable mini-games and eight extra levels – all playable by one or two players.
- For left-handed players, the game will flip and position Zip on the left side of the screen.

I've noticed that when it comes to packaged together Wii stuff, occasionally the Game+Control combo packs are exactly the same price as a control alone (occasionally cheaper), or in this case a small amount more. I needed a second Wii Remote Plus to go with the red one that came with my Wii. I figured I could gamble an extra $10 to try this game out.
So far I'm pleased.
This game is sort of a puzzle game - even though so far I haven't actually found any real puzzles to solve - but action enough to not be one. I have a feeling this game is going to be a hit with my casual gaming family and friends. I haven't played it in two player mode yet, but I expect it to work out quite well and I expect the above mentioned people to love it. I'll report back if I find out otherwise.
Both left and right hand modes are selectable, I don't know how that will work with a righty and lefty trying to play together, but I assume one is going to have to bite the bullet and hold the Wii Remote in the wrong hand.
Verdict - yes it was worth the extra $10 on top of the Wii Remote Plus. It's better to think of this as "Wii Remote Plus with Bonus Fling Smash" than it is to think of it as "Fling Smash with bonus Wii Remote Plus" as it's sold. Base your purchase decision on the price of the remote not the game itself unless you've already played the game.
If you don't need the extra Wii Remote Plus I really can't recommend spending this amount of money for the game alone unless these types of games are your thing. The game itself feels like a really well done mobile phone game adapted to the big screen. Not worth the full price, but well worth the extra $10.
---Update----
I played Fling Smash nearly all the way through this past weekend with my daughter. My seven year old loves it, she requested it repeatedly this past weekend. She fully grasped how to play it, it's very simple, I'm sure a kid younger than her could grasp it just as well.
I stand by what I said earlier, don't expect a lot of depth, it's just a fun simple one or two player game. Still worth the $10 extra, but not a whole lot more.
---Another Update---
I was babysitting last week, the boy I was babysitting loved the game. We made it all the way through in a couple of hours. My daughter still loves playing it. Right now this is the most requested Wii game in my home for the 12 and under crowd. Again, I still don't consider it a "serious game" for serious gamers.
Now that this combo is cheaper than the remote alone there's no reason to buy a black Wii Remote Plus any other way.
Wait for the price to drop below $35 again hopefully on Amazon to get the Flingsmash gave free and save at least $5 on the remote alone ....
Prices fluctuate, of course, but right now, this bundle is actually cheaper than just buying a Wii remote by itself. Not only do you get the Wii Remote Plus, but you also get a very nice little game with it, all for less than a new Wii remote (it's cheaper than a stand-alone Wii Remote Plus and also cheaper than a stand-alone standard Wii Remote without motion plus built in). In short, this is a great deal. If you don't like the game or purchase multiple copies for multiple remotes, you can just trade the game(s) in and get some money back to use toward buying yourself some other games or you can give the game(s) to friends or family members who also own Wiis.
All that said, I pre-ordered my bundle at the original full price, and I still feel as though I got my money's worth. :)

- shaking your Wii remote nervously
- playing like the tennis game in "Wii Sports"
- making the ball bounce just for the fun of it
There's a good chance that if you play in any of those or in similar ways your Wii Remote Plus is going to stop working properly, or you will start failing to complete the levels.
"FlingSmash" requires calm and concentration, and a little bit of strategy.
I think the idea works, and very well, and it is well developed. Levels are fun to play (most of them) and present different mechanics so is not always the same. There is also a multiplayer mode that is even more fun, and a collection of minigames that you have to unlock.
And don't worry if you are left-handed: there's an option for you.
What surprises me the most is how well the motion controls work. You don't even have to calibrate the MotionPlus sensor when you start playing like in other games because it calibrates automatically when you point at the "sensor bar". You have an indicator at the bottom right corner of the screen that tells you how the game is interpreting your movements, and it's pretty accurate. If for some reason (read above) it starts doing weird things, just point the remote at the "sensor bar" for a second and it will correct itself.
That's how every game with motion controls should be.
I have never complained about the calibration of the MotionPlus because I don't find it so annoying like other people do, but after playing "FlingSmash" I'm sure things could have been done better.
I understand why this game was replaced by "Wii Play Motion" as the incentive to buy a Wii Remote Plus, because "FlingSmash" is not very friendly for casual playing. Also, I believe some people think this is just cheap entertainment and don't take the time they need to understand how it actually works (and I'm talking specially about professional reviewers). Sometimes it can be a little bit frustrating when you get too excited while playing, and that's why I don't give it a 5 star rating in "fun", but the game doesn't deserve the harsh criticism it has received.
So the game is good, but... is it worth the price? It includes a Wii Remote Plus, so I think yes. If you are not interested in a new Wii Remote but are bored of shooters, adventures and action games that are all essentially the same, then I would also say yes, this is worth the price. For the rest, probably no.
Personally, I love this game and wish to see a continuation. It's funny, it's colorful and, overall, a very positive experience.
My 5 year old (whom this was purchased for as a birthday present) is left handed...
considering that this is a side scrolling game requiring the user to "flick" their Wii-mote in the appropriate direction to control the main character, I was very, very pleasantly surprised that it fully supports lefties!!!
Simple but addictive gameplay - it's enjoyable but could possibly be a little more "engaging" for the potential age group it seems to be targeted at.
If your after a new Wii motion plus controller or you have just got a WiiU and no Wii-motes I highly recommend buying this with flingsmash than buying one on it's own as it is much cheaper and you get a game with it too (just add a cheap venom nunchuk and your away).
