5 out of 5 stars
The story The Flip (Romance in Rehoboth Book 2) by K.L. Montgomery is a contemporary romantic comedy book. This is the story of Andrew and Sonnet. These two have always been rivals. Their dislike for each other runs deep so it is quite a shock when they both are named co-heirs to property from a woman they both remember with great fondness. While they agree to be civil to each other while they are flipping the property, they soon find that there will have to be major repairs done in order for it to be sold. This will take time and they will be working together a lot. Will they be able to keep the truce that they agreed on? As time goes by they begin to talk to each other about their lives and their hopes for the future. Even though they were once rivals, will they start to see each other in a different way?
This is an amazing book by an amazing author. She has written a story that will touch your heart and will have you quickly turning pages to find out what happens next. The sarcasm and bantering back and forth between Andrew and Sonnet is hilarious. I have read one other story by the author and have enjoyed the characters that she created. I came to think of them as friends. I love the character of Sonnet. She is a sassy, independent woman who can hold her own. When she was younger she was driven to succeed and was very competitive about it. This leads to her rivalry with Andrew. Sonnet always believed that she always had to work harder than Andrew for her success. There was one person she could always turn to for advice and the courage to push forward. Now with her passing, Sonnet begins to remember all of the encouragement that she received. As time goes by she begins to see a different side of Andrew. With her feelings towards Andrew changing what does the future hold for both Andrew and Sonnet?
Andrew is quite surprised when he sees Sonnet again. She doesn’t look at all like the girl that he remembered from school. As they begin to work on the property and also to talk it becomes clear that his feelings toward Sonnet begin to change. Andrew is falling for her. They both have dreams for the future and the money they make from flipping this property will take them one step closer to those dreams. What will happen when the property goes on the market? Will they walk away from each other? Why did Penelope Vaughn really leave Andrew and Sonnet her property? Read this book to find out how what happens between Andrew and Sonnet. This is one book that you don’t want to miss out on.
Author: K.L. Montgomery
K.L. Montgomery is an author that I started reading over this last year and let me just say I am IN LOVE with her books. Her body positive points of view and her real as life characters. There are no perfect faces, bodies, careers, lives. This is all plain and simple REAL life. I feel like I could be next door neighbors to the characters in the K.L. Montgomery books. These books are appropriate for anyone to read as there are no sexual encounters described in detail. Yes she hints at it but you do not get the "full frontal" assault that you may from someone else.
In all of K.L. Montgomery's books you laugh. There are solemn moments and moments that make you reflect, but there is most definately laughter. I think this is one of the reasons that K.L. Montgomery has fast become one of my go to authors when I am having a rough day. The characters can laugh at themselves and their friends and still go on like you would any normal day.
Be warned you will get sucked into Flip. The story of Andrew and Sonnet and how they are brought back together is sweet and sentimental. Dear old Aunt Penny really did pull a fast one on the two of them. Left the house by Penny, Sonnet and Andrew have to figure out what they are going to do with it now. The decisions they make and the steps they take. The things they end up doing for each other. It is suprising the way things turn out. I am in love with them.
This is the second book in the Romance in Rehoboth. The first book was Fat Girl, another great book and the first book I read by K.L. Montgomery.
WONDERFUL book and wonderful author. I look forward to many more!!
The Flip was cute, funny and at times downright hilarious. There is nothing like falling in love with your high school enemy than having to remodel a house together. You learn so much about a person and realize they are as bad as you perceived them to be.
