While the story was sweet and the HEA was satisfying, this book was just okay. I didn't feel the attraction between Jake and Irene and the small town dynamic (which I usually love) was too sweet. There were some humorous moments but Irene's back story and the reason she and Jake broke up in the first place wasn't convincing. Nor was the reason for her marriage to Sven (frankly, that was icky.) That made the whole story a bit weak. Add to that a relatively slow plot (which I know is one of the attractions in small town romances) and an unnecessarily "dramatic" event used as an artifice to bring the plot to a conclusion, I found this a pretty weak read.

I love a series of books that are set in the same place, preferably a small town. When you go back to visit, you meet some of the characters you already know, then find out about another romance working its way to a happy ending. This is the third novel by Molly Cannon that I have read, and she's got the formula I so appreciate. Her characters are interesting and likable, without being perfect. They grow and change in ways that seem real, and you're glad to see them work out their problems and reach their happy ending. This is a very enjoyable book, and I highly recommend it for some feel-good reading.

The one thing that Irene Cornwell knows for sure is that Theo Jacobson is one handsome, smooth talking, well-built heart breaker. She fell for him when they were young and yes they may have parted on less than amicable terms but lots of water and life have flowed under the relationship bridge between them. Theo has been serving his country and his adventuresome ways while Irene found a man that would give her a marriage of stability and money to go old on. So there is no way that Irene is going to let Theo came back to town and rattle her cage, again. Irene is over him and plans to stay that way for the rest of her life, or until he leaves which will hopefully happen soon.

They have to cross paths at Theo’s brother’s wedding, but after that no more. Well there is the work he is doing for her at her wedding planner business, and then for sure that is it. Dang it there is all that over rated attraction and the fact that the man melts the ice cream from her cone with just one look, but still Irene is over him, or really maybe not.

As Theo and Irene work on projects both physically and romantically there are so many defenders of her honor Theo is getting worn out by all the threats not to break Irene’s hear. Plus the hovering of what has been deemed Irene’s step son who has decided to interfere in everything is starting to make Theo wonder if all this pushing him away is only pushing him toward the love of his life and a chance to settle down again with Irene.

Molly Cannon writes a story with characters and romance that take your breath away.

As usual Molly Cannon has captured your attention in her third installment from Everson. You will laugh along with Irene and Theo and the town as they work very hard to not be involved totally unaware it's too late. They fell in love a long time ago and never fell out. Always a fun read. Looking forward to more from Everson

This is a fantastic story. Molly has outdone herself with this story. What a life Irene had. The sad and the happy. Everything can get better with love. Theo is a wonderful character and their love really does grow.

Most of us remember our first love. We can’t help it; it’s as if that person was branded on our brains and in our hearts. Maybe some of us even wish we could reconnect with our first love. Maybe we wish we had the chance for a do-over.

Wedding planner Irene Cornwell may not spend much time wishing she could have another chance with her first love, Theo Jacobsen, nor would she admit it if she did. She’s busy establishing herself in a town that branded her a Black Widow due to her having married a much older man, of whom she is now his widow. She is active in charities, and there is the new business as a wedding planner.

Who has time to ponder life’s what-ifs?

Irene has to confront those, though, when Theo comes back home. He’s been long gone, first in the Army and then as a sort of itinerant pilot and handyman. He’s back because his brother – a client of Irene’s – is getting married.

Theo and Irene each have a different spin on what brought their romance to an end, and they have a lot of bad feelings toward each other. They also have some smoldering, HOT feelings toward each other.

Before you get too excited, no, there is not much hot headboard rockin’ here. There is some, and while it is lovely, it is not wildly graphic, nor is it prolific.

The point is the romance and how Irene and Theo have grown and changed.

This book is, quite simply, a fun, cute romance novel. You can’t help but like Irene and Theo, and you definitely will root for them. If nothing is terribly surprising, so be it.

Fun, cute, sweet. Sometimes that’s just what you want to read.

Flirting with Forever by Molly Cannon is a splendid reunited lovers romance. This light-hearted novel is sweet and angst free with a delightful cast of characters.

Theo Jacobson and Irene Cornwell have moved on since their youthful but passionate relationship ended years earlier. Irene married well and now widowed, she is very involved in the local community and her blossoming business as a wedding planner. While Irene’s feet are firmly planted in Everson, Theo has never settled in one place and he goes wherever his next adventure takes him. With his next job already lined up, Theo returns to town for his brother’s wedding and unexpectedly encounters the one woman he has never quite been able to forget.

Irene and Theo are appealing, multi-faceted characters. Both carry scars from their failed romance but they set aside their differences during the wedding and when their paths continue to cross, they slowly begin to regain their old friendship. Although Irene tries to avoid talking about their past, when Theo presses her for answers, they maturely resolve their issues and move on. Their relationship gradually transforms from friends back to lovers, but with Theo’s departure date looming, is there a future for them?

Flirting with Forever is a highly entertaining novel with charming characters, a fabulous small town setting and an engaging, realistic storyline. There is quite a bit of depth to this enchanting story and there are surprising layers to Theo, Irene and their relationship. This heartwarming addition to Molly Cannon’s Everson, TX series is a fun, flirty romance that is sure to be a hit with old and new fans.
