Alice Dunlop is one of the coaches for the Venom Hockey Team and they are headed to the playoffs! If that is not stressful enough, she also must deal with her boyfriend Bruno, a former Wildcat hockey player, and his devastating medical condition. Alice has a tendency to run from trouble, but thanks to her love for Bruno, her team, and how the city has grown on her, she finally feels like she can put down roots.
We see ups and downs for these characters and can not help but to fall in love with them. I considered this to be a HFN ending, and I hope in future books, we are given updates on these two fantastic characters.
This could be read as a stand alone, but I feel it really needs to be read in order. We have characters from previous books that appear through out the story and reading the previous books will help in the understanding.
This story is fantastically written, the characters are so entertaining, the descriptions to details are done well, and the dialogue was engaging. All in all, a fantastic read.
Would I recommend this book? Absolutely!!

Sassy Beta Reading & Review
Alice Dunlop is the goalie coach for the Venom hockey team. The woman are heading to the playoffs, but Alice as something else to deal with. Her boyfriend, Bruno, who was a former hockey player himself, is dealing with memory issues. The couple is worried he's suffering from a devastating diagnosis, one that will not be easy for either of them to deal with down the road.
It was nice to see the softer side of Alice, as in the past books she comes across as having a gruff personality. In this book she's a much more sympathetic character, and I loved how patient and understanding she was with Bruno.
Readers won't be able to help but feel for Bruno, and how scared he is of the unknown. When a secret from his past came out, I wanted to cry for him when his announcement didn't go as planned. All he wanted was to make things right before he can't remember what he wants to say, but he doesn't mean to upset anyone.
Alice and Bruno have a long, difficult road ahead of them. I hope at some point we'll get a follow-up story to see how they're doing.

Locey writes some of the best complex characters and deals with very touchy subject matter. I suggest you keep a hanky or box of tissue around. My heart went out to both Alice and Bruno and even Alain from the Wildcat's series. ( another great series if you haven't read it). There s a big twist I didn't see coming that made the already dramatic storyline even more so.
This is a real page turner so once you pick it up, you won't want to stop.
Don't worry if you think you won't like it because you aren't a big hockey or sports fan, the romance is so good and is the most of the book, plus the sports part is also exciting and easy to follow.
This can be read as a standalone but I believe is more enjoyable if you have read the other books in this wonderful series.
