I remember being very intrigued with the Flowers in the Attic movie that came out in the late 80s, and wanted to read the book someday. Well, someday came and I did. Then I found out there was a series! I bought the entire series and read it over the course of a year. Books 3 and 4 were a snooze-fest, but overall, it's an ok fiction read (with some questionable adult themes).

I saw the movie flowers in the attic when I was a kid.... and let me tell you I am in my thirties and I still remember it. So like 20 years has gone by since i have seen the movie and I am in Half Price Books and I see this girl rummaging through V.C Andrews novels. I asked her what does V.C Andrews write and are her books any good? She tells me about the Flowers in the attic book and how there is like a whole series of them. And I freaked out. I told her how i had loved the movie as a kid. Well I bought the book and have been hooked every since. Now i haven't finished the whole book but when i put it down to deal with my every day life ( kids, laundry, cooking) the book is in the back of my mind. The two book comb Flowers in the attic and Petals in the Wind seem to flow there has been no gaps between the two stories that leave me wondering. So i would suggest if you plan on reading both books.... by this book combo. I think it was like $6.00 at half price books:) And dont be intimidated by the size it is a real easy read.

I really enjoyed these two books. It isn't great literature by any means, but if you are looking for a quick read and entertaining story, this is the book for you. I am looking forward to reading more of this series.

If you like caricatures, this combination novel is entertaining. While it is not a book of the month, if you rather enjoy a satire on gothic romance, complete with many of the gothic characteristics--a curse or sinister element, indefinite time and place, character mark, character persecution, character transformation, and contrast in light and dark references--then this novel will awaken all the wrong ways to present an eerie tale and actually make you laugh at the attempts of V.C. Andrews and her ghostwriters to take you to the edge of believability. The books have had a resurgence since the remade movie starring Ellyn Burston came out in January of 2014, but those who would really get a charge out of this book are primarily middle school girls.

I bought this for my 15 year old step daughter who loves to read. She couldn't put the book down and really liked it. I had read the series when I was a girl and remembered it was good. I would recommend the series for teen readers. Since to of the books are combined in this one publication, it is large and a bit heavy. If you're travelling, you may want to purchase individual books if weight and size are a problem (I wouldn't want to carry this around in my purse... too big and heavy).

I have never read anything from VC. Andrews that I did'nt like.
My all time favorite author, My daughter and I both love her books. Many books after we read them get given away , or sold, but we both agree, our collection of these books stay with us.

I read Flowers In The Attic back in the 70's when it was published and I got goose bumps because some of what was written seemed so eerily familiar. From what I can remember when I was a toddler, I think I was one of those kids in this book which is a 'fictionalized account of real events'. I and my 3 siblings (older sister, older brother, and younger brother) were sent to the Methodist Children's Home in Richmond, VA in the early-mid 50's after living with our grandparents.

Love, Love, Love these books! I have been wanting to re-read this series for YEARS (since I was a teenager). And I'm so glad I decided to buy this. It doesn't matter to me if its used or not, the words are still the same. Keeps me riveted to the pages every single night when I read it. Can't wait to get the next three books in the series after I am finished reading this. GREAT, GREAT book!
