Okay, so I found these speakers when I thought I'd get into the vinyl "audiophile" scene, only to realize its a pretentious hobby for *****bags, and after a month, deciding to stay with BETTER SOUNDING CDs. Nevertheless I wanted something with amazing quality. Without going into any technical details because I have absolutely no knowledge on the subject, these speakers are ****in crazy as hell. I let some Muddy Waters play on replay while I was at work (medium bass and plenty of range for live shows so I figured it'd be a good "break in", as these are recommend for that). And at my first official listen I smoked about 2gs and three glasses of wine and listened to Aenema by Tool start to finish and my life has been changed ever since. You'll hear nuances of songs you've listened to a thousand times that you never even knew where there, as well as (what those *****bags will argue against) sound quality I couldn't possibly imagine being any better. If you're new to the sound quality thing and want to watch Dunkirk with that crazy dogfight in movie theater quality and listen to music ****ed up, BUY THESE SPEAKERS.
I hooked them up to a Sony STRDH550 5.2 Channel 4K AV Receiver for anyone that's curious.
Great speakers, regardless of price. I totally hate it when people say something like “Great for the money” or “Best for the money” because I’m not in the market of spending XYZ amount of money, but in the market of finding good sounding speakers. My final verdict is: These speakers are great regardless of how much they cost.
Out of the blue, after searching for affordable, budget minded bookshelves, I ran across Fluance, Elac, Pioneer’s Andrew Jones lineup, etc… The Fluance Signature Series piqued my interest, not only because of the great reviews it was getting, but because aesthetically, they look great! I finally came upon an open box set on Amazon for $149 shipped through Prime. What the hell right? What have I got to lose, if I don’t like them, I can always throw them in the garage or in the kitchen.
When the package finally arrived, it was packed very well, double-boxed. No visible damage to the box itself, which was very surprising coming from UPS. Pulled the bookshelves out and they look great! Even better in person, especially with the grills off! That front glossy panel and the brushed aluminum tweeter housing and that yellow midrange, nice! Aesthetically, Fluance knocked it out of the ball park. The enclosure itself though left a little to be desired. Don’t quote me on this, but it feels like the cabinet was made out of 5/8” mdf. It just feels way too light for its size. I finally placed it on my desk, toed in towards the MLP and hooked it up to a Marantz NR1403 receiver. Fired up a few tracks I was familiar with, and the midrange immediately stood out. It was a little too hot, to the point where it sounded muffled, muddy and peaky; no matter the music choice, the midrange just didn’t sound right. Perhaps, it was because the cabinet didn’t have enough internal bracing and or the material used were not thick enough to help control the woofer. Either way, it’s very noticeable. The tweeter though, it’s nice; it’s smooth, laid back and somewhat airy. Turning the volume up, the tweeter shone right through, no harshness or peaks that I can tell. It’s just a very nice sound coming from the tweeter. It’s almost comparable to my car audio setup, which consists of a pair of Seas Lotus RT25A tweeters. Smooth, clean and airy.
However, I knew I had to fix the midrange, so I opened up the EQ in Winamp and tweaked it a bit, ended up cutting a few db’s at 180hz, 320hz and 600hz. Everything else was left flat, and let me just say, after tweaking it, the midrange is now smoother. The muddiness and peaks disappeared and is now in tune with the tweeter, just an overall nice sound. Imaging on these are also very nice. For nearfield listening, these are pretty good! The vocals sound like it’s coming from dead center, right in front of you! Some tracks, the bookshelves themselves seem to disappear and the music seems like it’s coming at you, from behind the monitor. These don’t have much bass, but that’s what subwoofers are for. For $150, I don’t think these Fluance’s can be beat.
All tracks played were .flac’s through Winamp, with a variety of music; rap, rock, pop, trance.
I use them as main speakers with a tube amp , tube preamp and turntable and I get plenty of deep bass !!! . They could easily cost $ 500-600 and still be a great price .....Sorry that's all I have to rush back to them......... !

Very good for critical listening with cds or FLAC files.
Double boxed so they won’t get damaged in shipping.
Magnetic Speaker Grills are a great touch! Front ported so they can be placed closer to the wall.
After buying them, they were delivered quickly, and nicely packaged in a double box. The fit and finish of the speakers is very good for this price point.
They have great imaging and good range across a wide variety of music genres (Bob Dylan's "Most of the time" sounds incredible).
The SX6's had better bass, but not by much. You could couple them with a powered woofer if you like having the full bass range in your listening, but it's certainly not required.
Overall you would be hard pressed to find anything that sounds close to this for anywhere near this price point.
Would recommend and purchase again.
My only issue is the circuit board inside the one speaker must not have been glued well, or was thrown around enough in shipping that it came loose - so the one speaker has a loose board running around inside. Not a huge deal for speakers that won't be moving around much, and there's no effect on the sound (I tested and tested this) - so it's a minor thing for me. I plan to just re-glue it myself at some point..
