Product Description

Flushed Away is this year's big holiday season animated film from DreamWorks Animation, the creators of Shrek and Madagascar and Aardman Studios, the Oscar winning creator of Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit. Flushed Away is the story of Roddy, a pampered uptown pet mouse Tony Award winner and X-Men film star Hugh Jackman who gets flushed down the toilet by a vulgar sewer rat trying to takeover Roddy's high-class digs. In the drains of London Roddy discovers a world he never knew existed. There he meets a cats of subterranean characters including a street smart rodent named Rita (four-time Academy Award nominee Kate Winslet), the evil Toad (two-time Oscar nominee Ian Mckellan), the Toad's hapless hench-rats, the Toad's French cousin, Le Frog and Group of easily scared, slithering slugs, all while trying to return back to the upscale cage Roddy once called home. The film is propelled by a spirited soundtrack filled with instantly recognizable classics including some of the biggest hits from Billy Idol, Jet, Fatboy Slim, The Dandy Warhols, Tom Jones and Tina Turner as well as the novelty hits ''Don't Worry Be Happy'' by Bobby McFerran and ''Yakety Sax'' by Boots Randolph (the unmistakable saxophone chase music used on the Benny Hill TV show). To top things off the CD captures the film's merry mood by featuring key moments from the film including a song by Hugh Jackman, songs and sound effect from the slithering slugs, and a medley of the film's schore highlights by Harry Gregson-Williams composer of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.

Executive soundtrack producer Sunny Park is not the kind of guy who leaves the seat up. Scan through the tracks to Flushed Away, as conscientiously assembled as the gag-a-minute film itself, and the evidence pours forth faster than an overfilled tank: when he's not sending his target audience of 5- to 12-year-olds into paroxysms of punk-fueled glee with Jet's "Are You Gonna Be My Girl," he's strapping them in for a ride with the mother of all riverboat queens, Tina Turner ("Proud Mary"). Animated accompaniments don't get much more likable, not only because Park so skillfully weaves pop with movie snippets in a way that feels unforced (note the sly segue from the cartoon Slugs' "Mr. Lonely" to Bobby McFerrin's "Don't Worry Be Happy"), but also because he's captured the loopy zig-zag spirit of the film so completely. Billy Idol belongs here every bit as much as Fatboy Slim, Tom Jones as much as Hugh Jackman, who stars. As soundtrack fun factors go, Flushed Away is on a par with Shrek; rarely will entire families feel so good while plungers loom at the periphery of their thoughts. --Tammy La Gorce

I bought this for my daughter after she kept skipping through the DVD to get to the songs. My 5 year old seems to be a pretty big Tom Jones fan. I think the CD overall is decent. It makes my daughter happy and that's all I really care about.

I'd say if you have a child like mine that keeps skipping through the movie to listen to certain songs then this is absolutely worth buying.

We bought the cd because our 5 year old son loves the Mr. Lonely song. We were very disappointed that the song is just a 30 second clip. But we love

the other songs on the cd. Now the 5 year old is singing proud mary and the 2 year old is singing what's new pussy cat and both can sing don't worry be happy. Its a great album as long as the Mr. Lonely song is not what you are looking for.

I liked this product because kids can get into it from seeing the movie and broaden their little musical horizons. They never made a kid's bop song from Tom Jones.
