I received a copy of this story in exchange for an honest review, so here goes.

In summary, it was short, sweet, and a nice way to spend a couple of hours. Because it's a short story, there isn't a lot of character development, but you get to know the heroine, Jessamy, well enough. There's a lot of "telling" versus "showing," but, again, it's a short story so the author's options are constrained by that. The only real gripe I had was how quickly the heroine flip-flops in her relationship. The couple has reunited after a two year separation, although she's not sure about the hero, Griffin, and whether or not she can handle his OCD eccentricities that broke them up the first time. She decides to throw caution to the winds, despite the fact she's also clinically OCD, and they get back together. Things are great, until she learns about a secret Griffin has, and she just ends it without even getting Griffin's side of the story. Then, her mother tells Jessamy that Griffin loves her, and she immediately changes her mind back to being in-love. Aside from that the flow was good, the dialogue was good, and the story was thoughtful and well told. It was a bit shallow emotionally, I didn't really "connect" with any of the characters, but it's light, PG-rated, and ends with the HEA (happily-ever-after). Nice read.

The concept of this short story definitely intrigued me, and when I started in on it I found myself enjoying Jessamy. For a short story, Bev Elle does a great job making her become a full character. I don’t feel as if I had questions about who she was and nothing she did in the story seemed out of character for what I had learned about her. Elle also does a good job at filling in Dr. Griffin Sanderson’s backstory, through Jessamy talking with her friend, coworker, and mom. It was an appropriate balance of telling versus showing considering you only have so much space in a short story. I liked the two leads together, and I loved how neither is the typical lead character with their OCD tendencies. There’s some steam between the two for sure, but more of the fade to black variety and not explicit. I liked how there were hints of romance in the secondary characters’ lives too. Overall, this was a cute story of getting a second chance with the one you never stopped loving.

I know a few people with OCD (or CDO as they say it should be). It was interesting, and fun, to see these two people work through their issues to find happiness. It was great to see them WANT to work through their issues to find happiness!

Griffin was sweet and focused in his striving to come to terms with his sensory hang-ups. I was impressed with how far he went to get his girl.

Jessamy didn't have to work quite as hard, but one of HIS issues caused her to go back into therapy, and it was a huge step for her to move forward and try again. She was a strong, sweet woman.

All of us have issues of one type or another, and we need to compromise in relationships. This was a sweet read that showed us the steps to make it work.

I'll be looking for more from Ms. Elle and I give this one a Four Bookmark rating for sweetness:

I received this book in exchange for an honest review. I liked the premise of this book, the lengths people go through to be together whether its because they are OCD like these two or facing other issues. It is a short story which kind of limits how much character background can be given but through telling to mother and friend we find out what we need to know to see what each of them have gone through to be together.
