"Since then, I've never looked back, it's almost like living a dream..."

As of this writing, other than the 2 CD collection "25 Years," this is the only other place to officially find the song "I Love You" on a Climax Blues Band release. I believe it may be on one or two miscellaneous soundtracks.

"I Love You" is arguably the highlight of the album. You either love the song or hate it, but I'm with the majority who loves this simple, beautiful song penned by Climax Blues Band bassist Derek Holt.

This isn't a typical Climax Blues Band song, as it strays from their core Blues-based format; however, the Climax Blues Band, whether they were willing to admit it or not, began straying in the mid-70's, incorporating a disco-based sound ("Couldn't Get it Right," a disco hit from 1976 wasn't much in the blues vein). While Derek Holt had been in the band since the beginning (late 60's), the rest of the band viewed this song as a major deviation from their blues style. Gushy lyrics? strings? No way. the rest of the band so resented the song that they NEVER played the song live in its heyday. The first time it was officially played live in America was when Derek played it in a Karaoke bar in Clearwater, Florida in 2005. Amazing.

A bit of history: Derek had written the song for the album, yet none of the band was interested in playing it. During the recording sessions, the producer asked if anyone else had any songs, and Derek came forward with his demo version of "I Love You." the producer listened and said, "That's a hit!" Relucatantly, the rest of the band agreed to put on their 1980 album, "Flying the Flag".

Sadly, this remaster (REP 5211) is victim to the loudness wars. Barely any dynamics left except in the quietest parts of songs. I (almost) understand the argument that new releases need to compete with current volume levels, but why does an obscure 1980 album with one pop hit have to suffer too? The main reason most will purchase this CD, "I Love You" doesn't sound terrible, thankfully, but it could have sounded much better if the master had been done to better standards that allow for dynamics.

I judged Climax Blues Band by their two hits, "I Love You" and "Couldn't Get It Right" but their music is good and quite listenable; so much so that I recently purchased their double cd anthology, which, by the way, is also quite good.

This is one of my favorite albums of all time. I have had this record on vynal since it was released back in the early 80's. There is not a song on here that ever skip. It is one of those rare disc that you can just let play and step away from the stereo. Not to mention that is contains the all time hit ballad, I Love You! This is a very important song to many people on this planet and it's so nice to finally find a very nicely packaged and remastered Compact Disc. It is definately on that I've been looking and waiting for since they started making CDs. You wil not regret purchasing this CD.

For those looking for that little gem of a song , "I Love You" , a real nice and crisp original version like the one on this album can be found on the soundtrack to "Zack & Miri make a porno". One reviewer here says that the production/sound quality here suffers a bit , I haven't heard this one but I do own the soundtrack to the above mentioned for that song alone and can attest to it's fine quality. The 5 star rating I gave this is actually for the soundtrack version.....just wanted to review here so people would know where to look for ILY! GOD BLESS & ENJOY! 2/2016 UPDATE ..... I just ordered and received this re-mastered CD and I have to agree with all others who have given it positive reviews. Although "I Love You" is a bit out of place among the other songs , it remains a gem and the majority of this album is strong in its own rite. ARS , POCO , fans will enjoy this! It comes in a Digi-pak with CD booklet inside. Worth it !!!
