About the Author
Rick Boyce first became involved in the All Australian Schoolboys carnival as a twenty four year old in 1967 when he was appointed coach of the Queensland under fifteen years state schoolboy team. A t the time he was teaching at Mitchelton State High School, coaching the school teams and playing football with the Kedron Football Club. He coached the state team another four times in 1968, 1970, 1973, and 1980. In 1996, he was manager of the state team. From 1967 until the late 1970’s he was a state selector. In 1970 and 1981, he was president of the Australian State Schools National Football Council responsible for the staging of the Australian Schoolboys Championships in Queensland. In 1990, along with Mr. Roy Wyatt, he was a co-convenor of the National Championships held in Brisbane. In 1974, he was awarded life membership of the Australian State Schools National Football Council for his services to the sport at state and national championship level. He was President of QSSSAFL from 1971 until 1983. He remained involved in the league’s activities at school, regional and state level until his retirement in 2001. This book was published as part of the preparation for the celebration of 150 years of Australian Football in Queensland during 2016.
