A melding of business-motivation manual and spiritual guidebook. DeLaurentis opens his curious, passionate nonfiction debut by noting what many of his readers will know well: that the business world can be a cutthroat place where participants are expected to go after their competitors and opponents with ruthless determination. The author, a pilot, and landlord, wholeheartedly indulged in such behavior himself; “I intentionally created pain, fear, and chaos,” he confesses, “so that the other guy was so intimidated and overwhelmed that he’d settle on the lowest possible price just to stop the pain.” It made him an unpleasant person, and somebody who experienced “horrific turnover” among his various staffs; he was particularly tough on the men serving under him when he was a 25-year-old naval officer in the first Gulf War. When DeLaurentis was fired from his job at the accounting firm Arthur Andersen and found himself out of work, he vowed, “God, if you get me out of this situation, I will dedicate my life to you.” He underwent what he refers to as a “soulrific change.” The bulk of his book is smoothly written, involving a combination of personal anecdotes and motivational passages. Although the author assures readers that he’s not talking about a particular form of spirituality (“That is your own journey if you choose to take it”), his book is clearly written by a believer in God. In this context, he points out that fighting is a “huge waste of energy”—it’s far better, he says, to accept the guidance of what he calls Spirit, which is “available without limitation, free of charge, and is the best help available on the planet.” Although the spiritual guidance he offers verges on the generic, his personal stories, which draw upon his years as a landlord, are so well-rendered that they give the book’s insights a genuine appeal—not just as Spirit-related revelations, but also as lessons for how to deal with people in one’s business. A quick, affable guide to being a better person in the office and at home.
"Pilot Robert DeLaurentis shows us that no matter how turbulent our beginnings, we can soar with ease and handle life's emergencies with calm and detachment. Although single-engine, round-the-world flights are not uncommon, very rarely do we see a relatively inexperienced pilot with the confidence and courage to successfully complete one. And more rarely do these voyages create a pathway to spirituality. This book comes at a needed time. With his down-to-earth stories, the author gently steers us toward our center, our meaning. He relates personal experiences with which the readers can easily relate. The lessons he has learned: to live a life of service, and to live in a spirit of gratitude are appropriate and needed." Janet E. Lapp, Ph.D., CFI, psychologist, flight instructor, author of The Four Elements of Transformation

Namaste (The Spirit within me salutes the Spirit in you.)
This true life story has touched my heart...I felt choked up at times through out the book and felt that I could relate and learn from it. The author, Robert, courageously and humbly revealed his painful life experiences, which led him to seek for peace through his spiritual revelation and be in touched with his core. Pain is our best teacher!
Thank you for sharing your path to inspire us Robert!
