This book is a treasure trove of great stories adventures and recipes.
His book is one of the best naratives of the AVG. It is very enjoyable reading indeed.
And the recipes are terrific, from all over the areas he traversed.
I rate this book very highly. I met Joe Rosbert at the Oshkosh Airshow in 1990. What a swell guy.
I wish I could have gotten to know him better.

Flying Tiger Joe's Adventure Story Cookbook Hardcover – June 1, 1985
by
C. Joseph Rosbert
(Author)
The spirit of adventure is inherently inside each one of us. Sometimes it takes the occurrence of unusual circumstances or the feeling of out-of-the-ordinary experiences to bring it out. That is what this book intends to do by roving the far reaches of the globe in search of adventure, whether it be in the cockpit of a fighter airplane over the skies of china, or simply in the confines of a kitchen at home. To conceive of a cookbook, which is really a collection of culinary experiences, as an adventure story is beyond the usual connotation of the word. Adventure is defined as a remarkable and exciting experience. There is risk involved……and imagination……and romance. This adventure story cookbook mixes the author’s world-wide escapades with a concoction of all sorts of romantic and titillating dishes which can be duplicated right in your own kitchen. As we travel the far-flung regions of the world, you will share the affaire d’amour of each experience. This will inspire you not only to prepare interesting meals but also to feel the adventure of trying your own variations. This book consists of six parts, each with its adventure story and recipe section. From Philadelphia, the author takes you through Naval Flight Training, at Pensacola to Rangoon, Burma, Kunming, China with the Flying Tiers to Shanghai, Taiwan, Majorca, Spain and numerous other interesting and adventure some spots. Besides American fare, the recipes run the gamut of international cuisine, including Chinese which the author studied for 3 years in the Grand Hotel in Taipei, Taiwan. The author, C. Joseph Rosbert, was with the Flying Tigers of the original AVG (American Volunteer Group) from 1941-42 in China.

The book came without the dust jacket which makes it look odd. Other than that it is in good condition. My dad, a former Flying Tiger pilot, was really surprised and loved it. The stories mixed in with the recipes makes for a good book.
