1 inch wedge foam provides moderate sound control on walls or ceilings. This product provides strong noise reduction , where moderate deadening is desired. 1 inch wedge foam is most effective on mid-to-high frequency ranges. Our foam is engineered to be aligned perfectly with the next piece to provide professional installation. Use: Perfect for use on walls, ceilings, doors, windows etc. Anywhere to help block sound and prevent echoes inside the room.

In my picture below you can see the random misshapen foam stuff hanging off the ends of the pieces. In the second picture that entire pile are all defective pieces that have that same defect on the ends of them.
Also, as other reviewers have mentioned, not all the foam is cut evenly. Some pieces were thicker than others and one was cut so unevenly that one piece was very thick while the other, corresponding piece was so thin that the "channels" had become fingers - completely disconnected from the rest of the square. Further, they are not all the same dimensions. Some were slightly over 12" while others were slightly under. This makes for a slightly uneven pattern on the wall. I even noticed that some pieces appeared to have been cut at a very (very) slight angle so that you can either have the entire square straight with crooked channels, or straighten the channels and have the piece slightly askew.
If you need a lot of foam that does a little bit of acoustic control, then these are fine. If you're looking for a drastic reduction in reflections, then you may want to look at another product.
If you need an in expensive alternative for soundproofing, I recommend going to your local hardware store and purchasing their sound proofing 4'x8' boards. They generally run $9-11 per sheet. After purchasing the boards, you can add these acoustic tiles on the top of them. It's a great combo to get the job done at an affordable price. **roughly $42/ 4x8 area.
I will definitely be buying more of these!
With the booth I had to cut them because I didn't add in the edge pieces. But I used 2x3 sanded plywood. 2x2 furring strips. Velcro strips. And then stapled them when I double layered them. So 1 inch turned to 2 inch.
