Sphear breaks with conventions and proves that high-fidelity in-ear headphones can be used for hours on end without the slightest discomfort! Sphear is faithful to Focal’s historic acoustic signature, the Spirit of Sound, with a particularly rich mid-range which is never muffled, accurate and clear sound, it is extremely faithful to the original work, and offers harmonic richness, from the low end to the high end, for true listening pleasure. Thanks to their unbeatable performance in this price category, Sphear are the most accomplished in-ear headphones to date, the most comfortable and the most generous for getting the most out of your music, wherever you are. In this age of High-Resolution and CD quality audio files, through its spherical design and its preservation of Focal’s acoustic signature, Sphear provides an original and unique solution for those passionate for high resolution sound. Never wanting to change music as it’s intended, with Sphear, Focal also offers a sound which is precise and clear, and extremely faithful to the original music. These unique in-ear headphones offer harmonic richness, from the low end to the high end, for true listening pleasure. Our research and development teams have perfected a Mylar driver whose specific shape and ridging were designed to avoid deformation and distortion. Equipped with an acoustic chamber with port for providing remarkable neutrality, such astonishing tonal balance has never been heard before from this family of headphones. The spherical design of Sphear’s ear-pieces makes it possible to have a larger driver than usual. The 10.8mm multi-channel transducer, one of the biggest in its category, and the Bass Reflex system provide extended frequency response in the low end and ultra realistic bass. Additionally, the bass level on Sphear has been slightly increased for mobile use in noisy environments.

Sure enough, that was 100% the case. Over the hours, the sound just got better and better - almost to the level of over-ear headphones.
Excellent sound and incredibly comfortable. Definitely lives up to the hype. Very, very pleased with the purchase.
Some background on me: I am a musician who plays the cello, bass guitar and piano, and a fledgling audiophile trying not to go bankrupt with all the headphone options out there.
THE GOOD: Light-weight earbuds, fairly comfortable as they came. I HIGHLY recommend (as did others) replacing the foam tips that came from Focal with ones from Comply. I have never worn foam tips before, only the silicone ones. The ones included were nice but a little firm and started to flake off rather quickly. Many other reviewers upgraded to the COMPLY foam tips (had to purchase directly through their site), and can I say, $15 for 3 pr. of foam tips seems like robbery, but they are AWESOME! No matter what in-ear product I ever use, I will upgrade to the Comply tips! I can actually wear these for hours and not hurt.
Sound quality is fine. I have a pair of over-ear monitor headphones, and I think these are similar in that they don't amplify bass or anything, just try to give the truest sound from the recording. If you like heavy bass, these aren't for you. I also like having the ability to pause / skip / replay songs from the button on the cord. HOWEVER, there is no volume control on the button (a spectacular oversight, IMO). I still need to fumble with my actual iPod when I adjust the volume. FYI.
THE BAD: Within 8 weeks of ownership, the little tiny screen on the right bud came off, AND the left bud stopped working. Two months. Yeah. Here's where it gets crazy. And yes, I did leave the 400 character complaint on the seller's profile, but want to go into more detail.
I purchased these from the seller that popped-up first with Prime shipping: ETAILZ. I went to the order number and tried to get a replacement / return issued, but after 30 days, that option is not available. Then, I chatted with an Amazon Customer Service Rep, who told me that I have to contact the seller for any warranty info. Otherwise, I could return my barely-used $90 earbuds for a partial credit and call it a day. What?
I sent an email to ETAILZ, who basically told me that I needed to go through Amazon and they could / would not help me. It should be noted that, unlike other headphones I have purchased on Amazon, the warranty info on the product page just says "Please contact the seller directly for warranty information for this product." My oh-so-helpful seller told me I have to go find out on the manufacturer's website. Turns out that in the US, they have a TWO YEAR warranty. Unfortunately, their site said to go through my dealer, aka the SELLER.
I typed in my zip code (on the Focal website) to get my nearest dealer, hoping that SOMEONE could help me replace my broken product. Shoutout to my new favorite people at IQ HOME ENTERTAINMENT (yes, they have a storefront on Amazon, though not for this item) who called me on the phone, asked first why the seller didn't just replace them(!), then forwarded all this info to his Focal rep. The Focal rep, who is communicating with me FROM HIS VACATION IN JAMAICA, is just sending me a new pair, no problem. These two people are the gold standard for customer service! That also is a positive for the Focal company. I don't know if these breaking is typical or a fluke, but a 2-yr warranty on less than $100 earbuds + awesome customer service will make me consider their products in the future.
All in all, I do miss having them and am waiting for my replacement pair. Hope this helps.
