This is an awesomely comprehensive dictionary, equal to the best bilingual dictionaries for other languages. I have only two very tiny criticisms of this dictionary. It doesn't have English-Irish, and it doesn't have pronunciation hints. For these two purposes, I use "Focloir Scoile : English - Irish Dictionary (English and Irish Edition)", which is truly excellent for pronunciation, but has limited word-count and limited detail in the definitions. (I also received this from Kenny's Bookshop via the same Amazon partner.) I understand that pronunciation has wide variations, but for a beginner, any hints on pronunciation are better than wild guesswork.
So when I look up words, I nearly always use both of these dictionaries together. The big Foclóir Gaeilge-Béarla on its own would be most suitable for reading Irish-language literature. But for learning how to write and speak Irish, both the English-Irish dictionary and the pronunciation hints are essential.
By the way, one of the best things about this dictionary is the cross-referencing. It contains many alternative spellings of words, which have references to the main entries. It also has many conjugated and declined forms of words which are difficult to guess from the main entries. These are comprehensively referred to the correct sub-entry of the correct entry.
