Born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Vicente del Rio, PhD is a professor at the the City and Regional Planning Department, California Polytechnic University San Luis Obispo, and a visiting professor of urbanism at the Universidade Lusofona in Lisbon, Portugal. With an extensive professional experience, numerous publications, he received several awards such as second place in the international competition for Rio's 2016 Olympic Park. As a professor at Cal Poly, his work received several awards such as from American Institute of Certified Planners and the American Planning Association. Two of his books received awards from the Brazilian Institute of Architects.
