Although this book is in full color, there aren’t that many photos. The introduction pages give a lot of good information that is helpful in determining where to go in the Caribbean, and each destination chapter includes a photo, map, and a few “top reasons to visit”. All of that is helpful in deciding if a destination is for you, but some information on population, currency, language, and more “down to earth” facts would have been welcome. Still it’s a great start to learn about the area, especially the geography, since it probably is not too realistic to think one will visit all of those countries and territories.
As a general overview of the entire Caribbean, this is a great book, but at almost two and a half pounds, it isn’t a very portable guidebook. But, for being so comprehensive, interesting, and useful for vacation planning, it’s hard to imagine a better resource, which is why I still rate it at five stars.

This is mostly a vacation guide with its 1100 or so pages, while I'm really looking for a live-there year-round guide.
Overall though, very thorough at a fair price.
My only neg. Is that it came in a huge box with other stuff sent to the PO, rather than to my home, making difficult handling and unwrapping to get at this GEM of a book!
