"Fodor's England 2011" is the latest and very comprehensive tourist guide to England and Wales, in the heart of the United Kingdom. In a densely packed 800 pages, this Gold Guide provides the facts on where to go, what to see, where to stay, and what to eat. England and Wales offer incredible diversity in the way of attractions, from castles, great houses and museums to the shopping and culture of London, to the outdoor recreation opportunities of Wales and the Lake District. Its publication is especially timely for those planning a visit during the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.

This Fodor's guide is organized by geographic region. After a brief introduction to experiencing England, the guide covers the Great City of London; the areas southeast, south, and west of London; the Thames Valley; Shakespeare Country; Bath and the Cotwolds; Wales; the Peak and Lake Districts; East Anglia; Yorkshire; and the Northeast. The guide concludes with some special topic articles and some practicalities about getting to England and getting around.

Each section offers menus of attractions, accomodations, and dining, and small scale maps of various areas of interest. The entries typically include websites for further information. Those pursuing special interests such as exploring Jane Austen or Bronte country will this book very helpful. The guide includes a tear-out map in the back of downtown London, at a nicely usable scale. The guide does lack pictures and photographs, although their addition might have made this guide just a little hefty.

"Fodor's England 2011" is very highly recommended as a planning resource and tourist guide for those fortunate enough to be on their way to England.
