This was a fast and easy read, with larger fonts and standout text for kids with ADHD, although it will benefit adults recently diagnosed as well. I was diagnosed at 44 and read this, finding it easy, informative and inspirational. The author was very candid and transparent about her behaviors before being diagnosed, which made the story that much more inspirational and relatable. I hope that my outcomes are as great as hers, and her story made me want to try to make those outcomes happen. I know it's not just medication that does the trick, I have to do the work on the skills as well. She threw everything available at her ADHD and I will too. Thanks for this book.

I first bought this book for myself, then another copy gifted to my daughter.
There are many good ADHD books out there, I own a lot of them and have taken something from each one. Most of these books have a similar theme, explain what ADHD is and go into detail explaining ways to cope, habits to change or create, this book is different. Way different.
If you have been recently diagnosed or your child has been, you will go through back and forth phases of questioning if you have it or even to what degree. What makes this book different than any other is the detail of Kristen's story, hearing her life story is something you will be able to relate to immediately if you are ADHD. Hearing her story will also help you relate to your or your child's journey.
I gained a lot of comfort and wisdom in hearing this from her. You won't find another book like this and you need it in your arsenal.

I read this book as a clinician working with mainly children with ADHD. I was astounded by the author's candid and generous glimpse into her journey with ADHD. It provided perspective as to what the world might look like for kiddos who are struggling with this diagnosis. More importantly, however, it reframed this disorder. It becomes a strength that when harnessed and properly treated. With the help of Fog Lifted, those with ADHD can begin to examine their own self worth rather than perceiving themselves as "bad kids" or "trouble makers." Ms. Seymour's conversation with the reader sheds light and gives hope to caregivers, parents, teachers, and clinicians. Hers is a multidisciplinary approach; medication combined with consistency, catching them doing the right thing, positive reinforcement, and plenty of physical activity is only part of the recipe for these kids' success! I admire anyone who can come forward and share their whole selves, warts and all. It takes courage to reveal our failures and wisdom to be able to reflect on what was learned. Thank you Kristin for this gift!!

The Fog Lifted is one of the best reads for both adults and children on the topic of ADHD. Kristin Seymour's willingness to share the struggles she's had and mistakes she's made helped my daughter realize that she isn't alone in the challenges she faces, therefore removing some of the guilt and shame she feels for sometimes having to take an alternate path to get to the finish line. As a parent reading the book, I gained such insight into how my reactions and support affect my daughter and how important it is to still hold your child accountable, just as Kristin's parents did.
This book is not full of mundane, overcomplicated information a typical reader doesn't understand - just real life stories and feelings that will change the way you view ADHD and those with the diagnosis.

Like the idea that we need to wean off medicine or that medication is “a crutch”. We don’t tell diabetics that insulin is a temporary crutch. Why this? Adhd doesn’t go away with age, why shouldn’t we be treated?

A truly great read!! As a parent of a child with ADHD this book was incredibly informative and validating. I highly recommend anyone that is in anyway touched by ADD/ADHD to read The Fog Lifted. I’ve worked tirelessly for many years to try and understand and help my now teenage son and my husband. This book would have been such an incredible tool to help me through my frustrations over the years. I emailed Kristin Seymour, the author, and she immediately responded to my email with such encouraging words. I feel like God made her and this book appear. It’s interesting that her medical background is in the cardiac field. In this book, she cares for the spiritual and emotional aspects of the heart. Thank you for writing this book for all of us who at times feel very lonely.

This is a wonderful personal account of overcoming adhd and how it affected the authors life and those around her. Kristin is raw, transparent and able to share her story with others so that we can learn from her personal journey and avoid some of those pitfalls. Failure breeds success and that’s exactly what Kristin shows in overcoming the weaknesses of adhd and turning those into strengths and ultimately her accomplishments in her career and then helping others.
