The story is basically about a man that witnesses a murder, and has to deal with the fact that everyone is questioning his mental capacity when he reports it. The surprise ending is icing on the cake! This book is also extremely well-written, has a consistent and cohesive theme, and the setting is superbly described so that it places the reader right there with the characters. I have reviewed quite a few books and I've become somewhat selective about what I read. I also can be very blunt concerning my likes and dislikes regarding the books, so my feedback isn't always what the author works want to hear. However, in this instance, all my annoying little peeves and innuendos were surprisingly subdued by the author's sublime talents. This book is a true mystery, complete with ample twists and turns in ALL the right places. I highly recommend this book to all readers of all ages. Excellent job Mr. Meanie!
That being said, I really enjoyed the story- it was an interesting perspective into Alzheimer's disease and how even though a person's mind might be malfunctioning, doesn't mean that they're totally helpless or unreliable. I'm on the fence about recommending this book, on the one hand, it's a really interesting story- on the other, it needs better editing.

While I think the author is attempting to show empathy with dementia suffers , the story is rambling and repetitive and does not,in my opinion, succeed in doing so. Much more I could say but just be negative . Sorry John ,I wish you well but this was sadly a very poor effort.
Every time I was starting to sympathize with the main character, author would reveal another ugly side of him. I didn't like any of the characters in this book. The best way to describe this book is a bit boring. The author tried to keep the mystery going, but it came across dragged out. When the plot was revealed, I was disappointed and not impressed. This book just was not my cup of tea.
I did give this book 3 stars, which is generous. But then again just because I didn't like it, doesn't mean somebody else won't enjoy it.
