My father was a bombardier with the 483rd/840th at Sterparone, one of the bases in the Foggia airfield complex. He was killed while flying training missions at Davis-Monthan AFB in AZ when I was only two. Consequently, I knew nothing of his experience during the war. This book helped provide some much needed context, and made me realize further what kind of a man he must have been.
