Try These Colors Before You Commit To A Project

>.. I like Folk Art Paints, they are generally quite good at coverage and price. Not the cheapest or the most expensive, but their coverage is usually quite good and the colors are pretty true throughout use. And I have a lot of their colors.
>.. BUT Glitter is different. On a white base, Jellybean Pink is pink. On a black base, Jellybean Pink is blue! I suspect this is a surprise to me because I do a fair bit of painting on a black base, and expected the glitter paint to be true to it's name. Red remained red, Turquoise remained blue, but hologram was blue as was pink! On a while base hologram is white with silvery blue glitter.
>.. I would not be surprised to find a manufacturer of glitter to tell me that there must be reflective elements in order to get the "glitter" effect, and as the paint disappears on black, the only colors that seems to be there are the colors that contrast with black. Well, hmmm. It seems to me that PINK ought to be pink regardless of background tint, pink is a contrast to black, but not in these paints.
>.. I usually use glitter to make things for my Grand girls, they like the flash. But for the future, I will stick to glitter and glue instead of glitter paint.
>.. On a black background the color of the paint disappears and just the glitter remains, not a bad thing, but test your colors before you commit serious time and paint on a project that may NOT give you the results expected.
>.. Tried some other colors on black: Silver remains Silver, Gold remains Gold, and Champaign is a pale golden color.
>.. This does not reflect the amount of glitter in the paint. There is plenty of glitter (assuming you stir it rather than shake it. Shaking it creates bubbles that don't always allow smooth application). Coverage is thin as if this was intended as a topcoat over some other color. I have not tried that, but if the undercoat is similar to the labeled color of the glitter paint, that could be very cool. Metallics might benefit as well. Just a thought.

I’m a rock painter. My painting partner and I love these glitter paints. They put a beautiful sparkle sheen over paint. They are sheer, but loaded with evenly spread glitter. I put the glitter color over acrylic paint of the same color. The hologram over black (several coats) gives an amazing green iridescent sparkle (perfect for dragonfly wings). I do a lot of dotting work, and I find just a touch of this glitter paint here and there makes all the difference. These are full 2oz bottles and will last and last. The black glitter over black paint as a background before painting your image is so subtle and sparkly without being gaudy. If you love sparkle, you won’t regret this purchase.

this sparkle paint is super gooy when you are using it with a brush. the smell is so strong and lingers so make sure you have good ventilation. the colors are pastel and not vibrant. i’ve tried using this with regular acrylic paint as a mix in and also by itself but neither one worked like i had hoped. it leaves an almost watermark shiny coat with a touch of color. not what i expected and will not buy this again.

I included two pictures- one with this product only, and another with a different brand of paint (without glitter) as a basecoat first). In the bottle the wet product is white in color with glitter visible which will dry clear making glitter even more visible. It takes 2-3 coats to completely cover something in glitter. I did not realize that they are not waterproof so when I put them In water I saw that although the paint stayed on, the glue turned white again making the paint look milky. I am going to cover in clear spray paint and try again.

Safety seals taken off 1/4 paint missing

Love the colors so if this wasn't a case of missing paint I would've gave 5 stars. I do buy alot of folk art paints here locally but could never find these. All of the safety seals were peeled off and 1/4 of paint was missing from each. I attached a pic to show the metallic colored one I got that is full. I'm disappointed they may have sent me some used ones. But I do love the colors so I'm keeping them.

Glitter Paint For Crafting

You will want to make a dot on top of the lid so you know what color it actually turns out to look like. With purple, it looked like a pale lavender until it dried. Once dry it was a very dark purple. The "plaid" paints are very sparkly and making my Mandala paintings look amazing. My biggest complaint is the amount of paint in the bottles. These are 2 oz bottles and they are only about 2/3's full. Other brands' 2 oz bottles were full. Also; these are on the runny side. I may buy an acrylic paint texturing thickener to help keep the colors from running on a few of them. I gave it a high rating just because this sparkly look is over the top cool looking on Mandala paintings.

These need to come with a warning label, that they are highly addictive, and that you want to put them on everything!! The glitter IS extreme, the colors are vibrant and the quality is great. The only issue is that the Pink actually goes a greenish color. :)
